Motor Trend Actual First Test drive w/ performance times

"The good old days are now. At the dragstrip, the Challenger stormed to 60 in just 4.7 seconds; the quarter rushed by in 13.1 seconds at 108.3 mph. Launching the Challenger is child's play: hold revs at about 1800 rpm with a dab of brakes, then let 'er rip. Leave traction control on; hey, leave the transmission in Drive. The SRT8 will lay down repeatable 4.7s run after run."
With some drag radials and a higher launch it looks like it will be very easy to hit into the 12s otherwise stock!

OK there it is boys and girls. For all the ney sayers... those times are good no matter how you dice it.

Even if the Camaro runs faster times, they are going to have to put an effort out. I guess this will give the GM boys something to out gun. Man I'm real happy with those times.

I just read the other post and this one shows a better time yet. The trap speed alone tells you it's a 12 sec car. Traction and launch are all that is keeping it from that. Before the dust settles someone will run a 12.99 with the automatic. A stick car will definitely be solidly in the 12's with a good leave. The car is making some real power, there shouldn't be any disappointments.

I hear Queens... WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS... Its our day in the sun The GM boys will one up us, but they have a year to do it. We will ride in the sunshine until then and by the time they hit the streets well most Challengers will be Modded

See I told you guys the Challenger would be able to do 4.7 secs in the 0-60 run. By the time the Camaro comes out, I think Dodge will play their trump card. I expect they will up the offering from the 6.1L.

me and rl were right in our estimates and our research and all of you who laughed and said we were crazy to think this car couldeven get passed the bass v8 mustang gt. Here you go, proof from what i said all along 4.7...........................................FEEL S SO GOOD TO SHUT THOSE CHALLENGER HATERS UP[:@]

Haha. Good for you. Now let the real smack begin. When I get my R/T it'll have a new exhuast, CAI, Tune and yes, Prolly heads. COME GET SOME. And my super 44's are gonna crack your windows Peace.....

Well, it looks like the Muscle Car Wars have truly started. I will certainly be modding mine for sure for performance and looks.
