How long before a production run do they start to prepare for a new product? Obviously some components are shared so maybe not quite as impactful. I would think they would need to do a couple test runs as well to work out any kinks in the process. I'd love some insight on that if you could share.

Just a quick bit of info to pass on. We at Brampton Assembly ( home of the 300C , Magnum and Charger ) are on a 3 week lay off for "inventory adjustment." Rumour has it that DCX is also taking this opportunity to modify parts of the line to accomadate the Challenger. I will let you all know of any changes when I finally get back on the line !!!

I just called my local dealership and they said they were taking deposits. Also said that the production will begin sometime in the spring, with the '08 models available in the fall. I didn't read every post, just the first couple pages. Some dealers might be fudging the rules, when it comes to lists, but who cares. If you want one, get on the list and be among the first. Like most new designs, the first cars will be the most optioned cars out there, and they are probably the one you want anyway.

Hi guys.
Before final production we have to build preproduction crash test cars. These parts must be from production tooling. No dies have come in yet. No parts have been run here...yet. When these dies do come in they will have to go thru a tryout procedure to "tweak" them to meet quality standards. This will take some time.
We are going to need to see these dies REAL soon if we are going to make an early 08 time frame.

Headed to make my deposit - in AZ
I just got off the phone with Scott Daniels (phone # 480-998-7772) at Ed Moses Chrysler in Scottsdale, AZ. I chose them because of their overall DCX rating. They are #15 in the nation. They are one of the first 3 dealerships to get the new Avenger. If you know anyhing about AZ you know Scottsdale spelled backwards is "MONEY"!!
They are in fact taking deposits for 2008 Challenger orders. He shared some well know information with me, nothing I have not heard from this group. As part of this deposit he will share all information released on the Challenger to his dealership before it is released to Joe Public.
The deposits start at $1000.00 and they presently have 11 heads on the list. I will be number 12.
