OK, I've been off awhile. My son downloaded a virus with his music![:@] Anywho, what are you guys paying for your R/T's? I seriously began searching for the best prices in my area and have inquiries in to over a half dozen dealerships. I'm wondering if there is any markup over MSRP on R/T's, or are the dealers willing to deal a little at this point seeing how the economy has taken a dump and car sales are in the ditch, not to mention gas prices and trying to sell V/8 powered cars. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking but I'm hoping the dealers are becoming a little flexible in their outlook on Challenger price gouging. I am also planning on ordering the base R/T (F), with the only option being the trac pack (DEC), which will probably lower my chances of getting a real "deal". If it's going to cost me more ordering what I want than taking normal dealer stock then I will probably settle for what dealer gives the lowest deal on a generic (optioned) R/T. Well, who's paying MSRP or below and how many dealerships did you try before you were satisfied that you got the best deal?

I am getting my R/T for "no more than MSRP" as quoted in my contractual letter and countersigned by the dealership. This was a letter I first drafted with them almost 2 years ago when I put a $1000 down. Since I chose not to get the SRT (I'm not paying a gas guzzler tax to the Feds - they get enough of my money), they left me spec out and order my R/T back on June 13th (with the continued understanding). I've dealt with my dealership for 10 years - they are honest and pretty customer-oriented, so I didn't have to shop around. Their ownership doesn't believe in gouging. I feel pretty lucky! My sales guy is top-notch! And who is this great dealership you ask - BZ Motors in Lewisburg, PA!

Well the Challenger as I want it, R/T with just the track pack comes to $30,990 sticker. Best quote so far is $30,335. $655 under sticker is a start, and this is from a dealer I bought a new Shadow ES from back in 1990. The dealer I've bought my last 2 new vehicles from isn't going below sticker so far, but I haven't really pressured him yet. He'll know the results of the initial search though, rest assured, and then I'll see if he budges.

Oh, caught a quick look at a black SRT yesterday on the interstate headed in the opposite direction. Looks good on the road and it's the first one I've seen in the area. I'm really getting the itch now but trying to be patient for a good deal. Problem is even after I order it'll probably be another 3 months or better before I'll take delivery. Deep breath.........Patience........patience........pat ience........

Found this in a post on the Allpar forum:
Mike V
"Checked on mine this morning. Still D... and waiting for D1. Now, the order I have is for a six speed, that doesn't mean their isn't an MDS/automatic issue."
This was in reference to the 5.7 being delayed.

First I have seen anyone with a manuel in D status. Could be a good sign.

I am still in C status, but hope to move next week.

Who knows more about the build schedule and/or when status will be changed for the 09s?

I have 2 - 2009 SRT8 6 speeds loaded in hemi orange.

The one ordered in May is a BG status

The second one ordered in June from a different dealer location is a C status (WOOHOO)

Would be great to get ASAP - I cant wait for one of them - the second one will either be bought by a friend, family or left for the dealer to sell. First one in is the one I buy - yes they both have my name on them, I have VONs and commitment for MSRP from the dealers

Insight on the real build schedule would be great. The 800 number thru India puts me round and round in circles and tells me to call the dealers for more information that no-one knows.

I ordered my RT on Monday and the dealer told me to expect delivery at the end of September or early October. I hope he's close to the actual delivery date.

If you get a VON number from AAFES, please let me know. I ordered my 09 SRT for overseas delivery back in mid March, and still nothing. Im curious to see if you have any better luck.
