Default New Anti-Theft Technology

Starting in 2009, GM will offer enhanced OnStar service in 20 of its models. If a car equipped with the new system is stolen, besides telling the police its whereabouts, it will actually stop the car dead in its tracks. According to the report, if the police see the car in motion and determine that it can be stopped safely, they can tell the OnStar operators to send a signal via a cell phone to slow it to a halt. Although, the horepower will be cut, the steering and brakes will still work. In addition, before all of this happens, the car's emergency flashers will go on and the car will give the thief a verbal warning before it stops moving.

The best thing about this technology is that GM is willing to sell it to other automakers in an effort to cut dangerous police chases.

It would be great if Chrysler would buy this to protect our Challengers!
