I just started seriously looking at Challengers this week. Went to the local southern Utah Dodge dealer, who has a black 2008 SRT in stock. It only had one option, the 255/45 rear tires, and had a MSRP of $41 K. I actually ended up talking to the owner of the dealership himself, because we know each other, and I have purchased three vehicles from him in the past. Their asking price for the SRT Challenger was $55 K. I just about fell over when he told me they had added $15 K to the MSRP because "thats what other dealers are getting for them". I told him I would not pay one dime more than MSRP, and he only came down to $3 K over MSRP, so there was no deal made. He is going to have the car in a local parade this Saturday, and asked me to stop by and test drive it after the parade. I'll take him up on the test drive, because I'm still trying to decide between the 5.7 and the 6.1, but I think I'm going to have to either go elsewhere to purchase, or wait for the excitement of the new Challenger to wear off. Sorry, I'm not paying over MSRP.
