As nice as this sounds, I don't believe it will happen. If GM gets a hold of Chrysler we can kiss everything we love about mopar good bye. I don't believe GM would keep the LX cars, the Dodge Trucks, or anything else short of Jeep. I think that Jeep is all they are after. Even if GM doesn't get a hold of Chrysler I still think we run the risk of seeing the company parted out. They are talking about cutting 25% of the white color work force. That is a lot of people. In the end this is going to be bad for the state of Michigan which has been hurting for a long long time. They will be putting at least 30,000 people out of work... since I think they are only after Jeep it'll really be more like 50,000 people out of work. In the end the only person to blame for this is Eaton... Thanks for selling us out.
At this point we can only speculate and I'm trying not to get in a panic as some have gotten into because truthfully, there is nothing we can do other than chew the ears off of our representatives to tell them not to give them anything to pull this off.
BLK6050, in my view if there is to be anything coming from the Government it should be a loans with guaranteed backing from the Government and that is a major "if." The big three need to stop this mentality of "woe is me" and start rolling up their sleeves and say "we are going to make it, and here is how we are going to do it." They have the mentality currently of how to post pone death as opposed to how to come back to life and that needs to change. I believe they need to have a detailed vision and spell it all out to us and accept terms and conditions if they want a loan. That is the way it is for everyone else and I believe it should apply to them as well. On top of this, they need to stop this spoiled brat mentality of when the government says no to them, cry and blame them for everything. If they want to borrow money from Uncle Sam, ask for it as a business venture NOT for a "pay for my date" attitude which seems to be their approach these days. All they seem to have in mind these days is what the Government can do for them as they want to cite what foreign governments have done for their competition. Grow up! They need to stop thinking of it that way and look instead with how they can get back in touch with their lost customers. That is the solution.
