Base model Challenger to cost $21,995
The Detroit News
Chrysler LLC announced this morning that pricing for the 2009 Dodge Challenger SE will start at $21,995.
That base-level version of the automaker's new muscle car has a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 250 horsepower. The vehicle should hit dealer lots early this fall.
The automaker also will sell two higher performance version of the Challenger. The 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T starts at $29,995 and has a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine. The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 starts at $39,995 and is the same as the limited edition vehicle that debuted last month but with some new features, including a pistol-grip shifter and new color choices.

Pretty close to what I thought and had been hearing. How does this line up with the Mustangs? We can only guess on the Camaro. But not bad and quite in line for what you get. A 2009 SRT-8 with six-speed for me and make it Black pearl

Priced pretty competetive with the Mustang. But with the Challenger you get more car, more horsepower (excl. GT500), more trunk room, more smiles to the gallon, etc.
For comparison I have listed the starting prices on the Mustang straight from Ford's website.
08 V6 Mustang starts at $19,650. (210hp 4.0L V6)
08 Mustang GT starts at $26,240. (300 hp 4.6L V8)
GT500 starts at $42,330. (500hp supercharged 5.4L V8)

Saw this on autoblog. Holy @#$%. That is an amazing price for the V6 and might be too good to pass up. And at the same time, getting the R/T under 30k is in impressive move too. Looks like the G8 is no longer the most powerful car for under 30 grand

Definitely too good to pass up. Hence, I'm getting two. One white for sure. Since Plum Crazy isn't being offered, any suggestions on the other one? Torred maybe?

Put The Beener down for one 2009 R/T in Brilliant Black Pearlcoat. Skip the sunroof, skip the MyGig action, but throw in the the Summer treads for an extra $50 bucks. Am I correct in understanding that Hemi orange will NOT be available in any 2009 model? And seriously...why no Sublime Green and/or Plum Crazy Purple? C'MON DODGE, that would have been awesome.
