Thumbs up Minneapolis Auto Show

On March 14, the Minneapolis American Muscle Car Examiner had a good write-up on the Challenger at the Minneapolis Car Show. Here is the write-up and the website for the slide show:

"Dodge has always done things their own way. That’s just how they are. Who else would have the guts to build the Viper? Whatever the occasion or model, Dodge seemingly invites and promotes that “take on all comers” mentality.

At the Minneapolis Auto Show, Dodge went out of its way to showcase that, uh, colorful way of thinking. So it should come as no surprise that the new Challenger was meant to grab your attention. Lavished in some newer, exciting hues I might add.

They can’t help it. It works. It grabs your attention with neck-snapping authority like the Hemi under hood. Dodge will beat you over the head until you get the point, I mean, paint. And, boy, do we ever.

Yes, retro is in and the Challenger is crashing the party, in high style. More like High Impact. Available for all Challenger models are colors either taken directly out of the 1970 paint catalog, or topcoats highly influenced by the famous High Impact tints. There's Hemi Orange, Plum Crazy, Tor Red, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl, B5 Blue Pearl, and Detonator Yellow. They even sound fast.

Besides the memorable paint combinations, Dodge also offers Mustang and Camaro drivers something to remember, too. Versus its main competition, the Challenger holds up nicely. Let’s see, there’s more room inside, just like the '70 that featured a slightly longer wheelbase. Passengers will be greeted with just a bit more leg room, with an overall interior that just feels bigger than its closest competitors.

Speaking of feeling… is that a Hemi under hood? There’s enough grunt to pin you back in the seat no matter what engine option you choose. The R/T (for Road & Track, ala late-‘60s to early-‘70s models) has a 5.7 liter Hemi with 372 horsepower (HP). The top dog SRT has a 6.1 liter Hemi with 425 HP. Even the base V6 engine with its 3.5 liter 250 HP would surprise many ‘70s vehicles.

And with those powerful engines, you’re going to need fuel. Might as well be pumped in style. There’s a cool-looking pseudo-quick-fill, pop open gas cap. A nice touch, Dodge is clearly having fun with all this attention.

And pay attention, you should.

The 2010 Dodge Challenger is a thoroughly modern take on the famous E-body platform produced from 1970 to 1974. But you don’t need a history lesson to know that. Just look at it. Everything about it says 1970. A nearly identical copy, albeit on a slightly larger scale, it’s as if the '10 model is the same vehicle as in 1970, except he came back to a reunion in way better shape and touting off.

That’s the point. The Challenger is back and ready to do just that, challenge for your sales. For those looking to buy a muscle car with retro looks and gigantic appeal, look no further than the 2010 Dodge Challenger. After all, it’s hard to see beyond all that paint."
