Mopar Action - August 2008 issue
The August 2008 issue of Mopar Action Magazine has a good reading article on the Challenger.
Where is my 6.4L with a manual transmission and plum crazy color with flat black stripes.
The last paragraph has this:
Coming Attractions
Look for the 6.4L Hemi as a late '09 or 2010 intro--possibly in a special edition model.
There will be a special-edition Challenger Classic R/T later in the '09 model year, with a
B5 blue paint, black side stripes, unique badging, and 20-inch five spoke aluminum wheels -
but with the 5.7L Hemi. Convertible junkies will get their fix in late '09 or 2010.

Not much said about the SRT8s? Lots of talk about making "the masses" car and a little eye candy for the R/T folks.
I think Chrysler is trying to distance the SRT8 from the normal buying crowd.

That makes sense though. . . for the last 2 years all we've heard about is SRTs and a lot of people were mislead to believe it was the only option available.

I'm liking the Hemi Superbird on the front. Hook me up with one of them please.
tanner is tempted to subscribe to Mopar Action. Time to talk to the old man for the money.
DON'T BLAME ME I'M A POOR IDAHO FARM BOY THAT HAS BIG DREAMS.

Well most likely the reason why they are doing that is they don't want the SRT badge to become watered down (yet) as what has happened to the R/T badge. Also the fact of the matter is the R/T badge is going to have a lot more sales and they need to build on that. So the 6.4L was mentioned? Did they indicate if it would have the VCT upgrade found in the 5.7L? Did they say whether or not it would have an automatic option and MDS (just out of curosity)?
Well honestly tdub, those things are super expensive and rare. I have only seen one original Charger Daytona (the Superbird's sister car) and it had the 440. RLSH700 must say that RLSH700 is also tempted to get RLSH700 a subscription to Mopar Action as well so then RLSH700 can enjoy reading these articles that grabs RLSH700's interest. There's nothing wrong with having dreams, dreams are what motivate us to achieve better and greater things. My father was a poor Missouri farm boy who is now an accountant. Just focus the energy on school through college and you may be able to achieve that someday.

Did you guys know when the Plymouth Superbird and Dodge Daytona came out, they were barely able to sell enough to make the cars eligible for NASCAR. Most buyers thought they were too radical for the street. Go figure.

I remember seeing one in Rockingham when visiting my Grandfather. They had it in the show case window. I begged my Dad to turn around and let us go see it. My brothers and me were speechless when he drove real slow by it so we could get a good look. He said do you want me to trade in our Rambler for one of those. We all said yes of course. He just laughed and said we had to keep the Rambler for gas mileage. We were headed over seas and the gas there was rationed. But I remember that car

Theres not a car on the planet that will get more looks then a superbird and it doesnt matter if its man, woman child ,older people they all look stair and point . I drove one most of last summer it was a all orignal 6pac 4 speed it was sold at barret jackson this year in palm beach. It does take a little geting use to in the parking area with the noes on it .
