Thanks for the feedback, everyone - we decided (because it's 3 adults) to ship the car to CA and then take it for an inaugural trip more locally. I'll post pictures once it arrives!

Just realize that this car was designed for performance over comfort. The seats are designed to be very firm which can cause TB (tired butt) after a couple hundred miles. Also, although the Challenger is one of the most roomy coupes, it still will be uncomfortable experience in the backseat for such a long distance. A lot of what will determine how well this would go is what all of you are used to driving. If you own more roomy and traditional luxury vehicles (Lincoln Town Car, Cadillac DTS, Buick Lucerne, etc.), it will probably be a more difficult experience. If you drive econoboxes (Focus, Corolla, Cobalt, Neon, Civic), it probably won't bother you as much.

... and it is here! The red is a gorgeous color for the car. We are going to have to do a photoshoot, it is a very attractive machine!

Blame the white balance on my iPhone camera. It looks very red in person. I'll get a color-corrected picture tonight.

My brother in law is beside himself - he's been waiting for this car for months. His Xmas just arrived a bit early this year

I think the car will be much happier that it is being shipped. I didn't read anyhting about it in my new Challenger owner's manual but in some other new car manuals it says to use a break in period of 500 miles with varrying engine speeds before any long distance/constant speed driving (cruise control). Seats the rings better, preventing any odd oil loss/blow-by issues later on.

Look more closely it reads the same in the Challenger owners manual.
