Yep. Bad or worse. Pick your poison, one's just quicker.

While traveling to NJ, I stop into a dealer to see about Challengers. This dealer says that they will be building 6.4s in 09 SRTs.

Do I trust him? No - since dealers know little and Chrysler continues to create rumors by not being transparent in there actions. This non-transparency can lead to speculation and the limited edition gouging we have seen regularly as consumers.

I would buy a 6.4 Liter SRT8 Challenger if they made it for a nominal upcharge to the 6.1 SRT8. If it were a substantial increase, I would need to weigh other performance cars as options as well as the exclusivity this choice - one of 500 or better will probably get my attention. The 09 SRT upcharge is already putting some exclusivity on this model over the RT.

I love the looks of the new generation Challengers and the original E body Mopars, the ability to seat my entire family of 5 eliminating a second vehicle (with at best gets 25MPG at worst gets 11 MPG Premium) when we go cruising.

You're always going to be better off with the HP built into the motor(displacement is the best starting point), superchargers are just problems down the road!

Groann Now thats the kind of thing that will make me rethink my planned trip to the dealer today or tomorrow.
Unless I place an order for a 6.1 and they will honer the change for any thing like this.

Sorry, not sure where this came from... think I was trying to answer a different post. Based on the way posts have been performing not sure if it was me or the forum. []

6.4 sounds good but with current gas situation you really think it will happen?

Yep. I hope my purchase time is right. Either I'll get something new next july (6.4 would probably get me up to the SRT) or a great deal on an RT after all the Gas fatigue....and then it's off to the Outback to capture bad guys w/ probably what will become "The Last of the V8 Interceptors" (not blue oval this time but Mopar Style!)

In August 2008 issue of Mopar Action, they go over all the trim levels of the Challenger and on and on about stuff we already know. However, the very last paragraph in the Challenger article is entitled "Coming Attractions." Here is that paragraph:

"Look for the 6.4L Hemi as a late '09 or 2010 intro-possibly in a special edition model. There will be a special-edition Challenger Classic R/T later in the 09 model year, with B5 blue paint, black side stripes, unique badging, and 20-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels-but with the 5.7l Hemi. Convertible junkies will get their fix in late '09 or 2010."

I'm not saying they are right, I'm just saying that they are saying it.
