Default Anyone have that phone # for India? (I decided to let the damaged one go & start again)

OK, so yday my dealer called to say that after 3 weeks, they had gotten a trunk lid & spoiler and completed the work to install them on the damaged RT that I had ordered. I went to look at it and as I feared, immediately my brother (a proud 72 #'s-matching Rallye Challenger guy) said, I can tell from here that the trunk lid is a WHITER shade than the rest of the car. Hmm, I looked at it and after he had mentioned it, I thought I saw it too. But what really bothered me is that as a ran my fingers across the trunk lid, on the finger tips I could feel little "points" sticking up in places such that it was NOT smooth. NUTs, I just KNEW that a repaint wouldn't be like factory paint. And within 1 minute of us stepping onto the lot, my salesman came running out to apologize that thay had cracked the left rear taillight in moving it to the new trunk - doggone, they did! And then I noticed that the black plastic strip that is on the bottom of the trunk lid had a big WAVE in it in one spot that I would easily be able to stick the end of a screw driver into. I just had a sinking feeling in my stomach about the whole sitch and then the salesman told me that the best deal they could do on this caar was $1400 under MSRP but I could have the IDENTICAL car that they ordered for MSRP - $1000 when it arrives, I was like "NO BRAINER", spend the extra $400 and get one that hasn't been hit.

SO, I have a VON for that new one and I need to start tracking it - I was so spoiled with the registry site after I had a VIN on the 1st car. Anyone have that hotline to India so I can start tracking this VON the hard way?

Thanks!

Thanks for all of the good wishes and yes, as for what will happen to the damaged RT, it was clear that they weren't too concerned at all when I turned down the $1400 offer and my salesman marhced right over and took the SOLD sign off of it. There were already a # of people standing around it and who knows what price they'll get (possibly more than the MSRP - $1400 from me).

I just HOPE that now I've turned down my (damaged) dream Vanishing Point car (which I think they let Kowalski back off of the carrier!), that the factory gets to my new order (before the plant goes on strike or my bank fails or the new gov't outlaws V8s or something). And that the deliverer is gentler this time.....

Too bad they did such a crappy job "fixing" the Challenger. Considering that, though, you did the right thing.

Yeah, there was nothing "major", but knowing the paint wasn't factory right would just keep bugging me. If this had been my last chance for a Challenger, I woulda still bought it. But when they're still making them factory fresh and I plan on keeping this car forever, I want to start with one that's right.

I feel bad for the dealer in a way, though. As, besides my damaged RT, they have a black SE with a poked through front bumper (it came off the same carrier as mine in damaged shape on the same day). And even though the car came with the "metal flake" black paint, when they replaced the front bumper, they didn't do the "metal flake" and just made it plain black. SO when you walk up to the car, it's NOTICABLE that the front bumper wasn't factory painted (the rear bumper & spoiler have the black "metal flake" but the front bumper sure doesn't have it. That car has been sitting there 3 weeks and is still there.

It's a shame that when cars arrive damaged that they don't get taken back to the factory & fixed up right so that they can start their life on a footing as equal as possible as the other undamaged ones.
