I love the old school look and I was thinking about get one, but.... for some reason it looks like an ice pick to me. I just can't get that image out of my mind. (Basic Instinct)

 

Speaking of old school, let's go back to the school that burned down before the old school was built. If anyone wants to know the derisive term employed (mainly by those of use who preferred racing with automatic transmissions) for "pistol grip" shifters in the early 1970s, PM me. Just because of this term, which I first heard when I was 16 years old, I personally could never buy one.

 

Mine is a hit at every car show I attend. Most people at the shows say to me please don't put on the stripes. Sooooo, to each his own.

 

It looks a little like someone took a fancy buck knife and stabbed the console. I like it but it would take getting used to.

 

VanishingPT2009 , WOW that looks awesome and I want one too, OK? The reason why is my 2009 R/T has the carbon fiber surround arond the console and the radio and dash surrounds and that shiffter handle would match perfect. Please can you give out some info IE............
1 What is the cost?
2 Where can I oreder it from ?
3 Is it hard to install?
4 Most of all how do you get the factory one off without hurting anything?

I paid $160
It was easy to install..but I did have to modify it slightly to use it on an 09 LX. The pistol grip has a threaded nut welded deep into the base ... as 05 -07 LX cars shifter knobs / stalks are threaded. 09s have a friction bushing hidden by the chrome collar at the base of the knob. All you have to do is take a small flat blade screwdriver and gently pry between top of chrome collar and bottom of the leather knob, and the collar easily slips down the stalk. Then the knob easily pulls off the stalk, followed by the collar.
So the modification I had to perform to get it to sit on the stalk in the proper position (locating ring where the friction bushing sits) I took a 21/64ths drill ,and bore out the threaded nut, and @ 5/8" into the stalk = very easy to do as the base hole of the stalk guides the drill bit true!
