Default Can someone explain why the redline is at 5800 in the R/T

Just curious, couldn't find any info on the net.

The SE redlines at 6500

The R/T redlines at 5800

The SRT redlines at 6200

Why is the R/T redline so low?

thxs!

Different motors and cams. RT is more about the torque than the top end, 6.1 is the opposite.

Wow, and I thought it was just because we paid more for the SRT8. (Just kidding......)

They are are just simply different engines.

1. higher compression ratio

2. Bigger bore

3. high flow heads

4. larger valves

5. intake manifold design for higher rpm

6. exhaust manifold is tubular in design

7. higher flow fuel injectors

8. higher flow air cleaner

and so forth.

I think they just don't want it to out run the SRT.

I read in the HotRod mag. they have an article on the internet too. With new springs and a Cam the got 60plus hp and raisd the redline to 6800rpm's... When they were done with the 5.7 it was pushing 438hp "respectively" and also they kept mentioning conservitly... They said the 5.7 was "easily" good for 500hp..

I had always thought the limiting factor was the strength of the wrist pins and rods.
