Default Downshifting for some reason

Hello All,

I'm helping a friend's kid with his 2020 Challenger V-6. Took it for a test drive and it drives fine, except for one thing: The transmission downshifts every gear as it is slowing down from any speed to a stop. I've rented a bunch of Chargers and Ram 1500's and haven't ever seen this on those.

Each downshift brings the engine up to about 1,500RPM and the downshift is felt in the vehicle speed. It's like in the old days if I clicked the lever down a gear at a time (well, OD button then gear lever in some Mopar applications).

I've never seen a car do this without putting it in some kind of sport mode or grade-descent mode. Is this normal on challengers? . . . or some kind of performance mode?

Maybe is there a tuner out there that is known for doing this?

He's never tuned it, but he got it used so maybe the previous owner did? Previous owner did install some loud aftermarket mufflers and a few other JCWhitney-esque items on it, so maybe they did a tune as well.

Thanks for any help!
