I just checked: Mine is steel. Fat Cat must have gotten one of those designer knockoff plastic gas caps at the flea market.

I love it. It's of many cues they took from the old school car. Fake??? WTH does that mean.
The name Flip Top came from the fact that you pressed on the tab and it flipped open (spring loaded). I could not believe I had to pull it open! You guys seem to be fine with the fact that they gave this car the look of the older version , but did it as cheaply as possible. Maybe it comes from the fact that I have owned a few e-bodys in my days (& still do), that makes things like this stand out to me.

We have an original E-body in my family, too. A number's matching 72 Challenger Rallye with a high performance 340. And personally, I'm just grateful that they created the new generation Challenger for us (and at a price that many of us regular guys can afford).

Couldn't have said it any better...It still amazes me that we all cried out for the Challenger, Chrysler builds it...and some people still are not happy. People, it's not 1970 anymore...get over it...it's 2008 and things have changed. If you want a 1970 Challenger...buy a 1970 Challenger. If you want a 70 Challenger flip gas cap..buy a repo of the original and install it on your new Challenger. It's your car, and you can do whatever you like to it.. The 2008 Challenger was never suppost to be a "1970" Challenger, it was only suppost to give you the favor of the original. Yes there are things that I miss from my 70 Challengers, but I didn't buy a 1970, I purchased a 2008. And trust me, there are a lot of things about the new Challenger that I wish my old 70 had.....
Different times...different needs...different ways to meet those needs....

I've said it before and I'll say it again, "it's the best damn money I've spent since I got my marriage license 22 years ago"

Enough said!
