I am no expert, but that looks more like a metal failure than a power break of the shaft. This is a problem on other LX cars. I suppose that there have been discussions about the after market upgrade. Those are expensive and a big deal to install at home. My 2 cents is that Dodge should offer us all an upgrade.

it definitly didnt twist. looks like it just sheard right off. anyone know if its cast or forged? looks cast to me. vynle

Cast. No doubt about it. This is, after all, a mass-production item.

pretty sad considering weve paid over 40g's for this car. if i have to start my mods with a stronger halfshaft in a car thats supposed to handle 167mph then somthing really is rotten in denmark!!!!! and if we do mod this car and the shaft breaks u know chrysler will balk!!!! this should be a recall as far as im concerned along with the upgraded diff! if this were the SE model it would be different, but its not, ITS THE FREAKIN SRT8 MAN !!!! $40 G's... I wish! I felt honoured to get mine at $65 G Can. First two I looked at were $80 G's. Damn thing is built here too. Why we pay so much more I have not been able to figure out. We're suckers I guess. I sympathize with anyone who doesn't know how to look after a car themselves though. Going the dealer route sure does suck. Just my opinion.
