With a bankruptcy, that would help untangle the massive corporate empire, because they could void all the and supplier contracts and pensions etc etc. If you could do that, it would make more sense. Although with the low volume enthusiast niche, you'd have to either use the parts from other, mainstream automakers, or become really expensive to fund your own R&D. (Or maybe just be a mad engineering genius yourself) If you're buying Olds anyway though, acquiring a different defunct nameplate (like Plymouth) shouldn't be too hard.

The news outlets are saying that Renault-Nissan are still looking it over. The local dealer that is about to close says that the training center in St. Louis has been closed and all the trainers let go. The dealer in Terre Haute, Indiana says they have about three months of operating money. Another small dealer north of here says that they have lost all their floor plan and might not be around very long. The local dealers' parts man has said that some of the personnel that he calls for parts help are gone. A very unhealthy situation all around.
