I am thinking of installing a cold air intake to my car. I am wondering whether this will void the Manufacture Warranty from Dodge. When I spoke to the dealer, they told me that it will void the warranty if this cold air intake to cause any issues with the engine etc.

according to the October 2009 Mopar Muscle Magazine- Tech 3 article "a little show, a little go"; some dealerships will tell you that installing a cold air intake will void your warrenty, however, installing a cold air system- like K&N system that they used, will not affect your warrenty at all. This is according to our Dodge dealership, which sells the K&N system. According to their after market sales rep, performance results are varied at higher speeds. So again, the balance factor seems to be the key, as always.

I talked to my dealer today and they said as long as I purchased the Mopar Cold Air intake, there would be no problem with the warranty. They also told me that it would add 15 HP to my 6 Spd Challenger. Sweeet ! I think as long as you service the car regularly with a Chrysler Dealer there should be no issues with Waranty voiding, that is what my salesman told me. Anyway just to be sure I am sticking with only Mopar add ons.

There is a difference in "cold air" and open air. Cold air will usually put the filter down low and near the wheel well. Always a chance of hydro lock in heavy rain. But an open element just allows more filtered air into the engine. Factory intakes have to take in account for noise. Open element air intakes are free to abuse the dbs.

If it's a product thats is sold by Mopar then it shouldn't affect the warranty.

If it is sold by Mopar performance it "could" void the warranty. The CAI wont void it, but if you bought the new super charger coming out.... Chances are you void warranty. Many parts will be labled for off road, or not for use in California

I went with the K&N because that is all they do is filters.

I went to my local dealer last week and the sales manager actually recommended getting the "cold air intake" from Mopar. He stated that it would not void the warranty.

I wrap the cold air intake and coil pack with a plastic bag when engine shampooing... you dont want to delibratly put water onto these items..but water does get on them in normal use.

i used to have the kn intake v2 and i love it . if you take the vfad out it will be the same as the aem and no water will soak the filter. also i never have idle problems . i sold it because it was to loud almost as loud as my exhaust if not more.
