but did you have to sign anything?

i cant see how there can be an official list without any down payment...for instance, i would have to think that if i walked in, and threw down 10,000 at that same dealership, that would make me number one, and i would get that in writing...money talks, especially with those crooks at the dealership, and when i worked for dodge, anyone will to pay way in advance made the dealership happy because that amount sat in a bank account earning interest until the car showed up.

Exactly right...my plan is to pay cash for my Challenger. I have been driving a paid for 97 F150 for a long time and I luckily have no debt. I pretty much think I'll cut to the front of the line when I walk in. I am not going to pay a large premium to the dealer either. If I have to I'll sit back and (grumble) wait.

You're right, there isn't one without CASH/CONTRACT involved! Could anyone imagine a dealer turning down someone because he wasn't on a list, FUNNY!

Here is the latest I got, I went down to the dealership where I live. I asked if there was some sort of thing we could do so they could inform chrysler that they have a buyer who is approved so they would receive one of the new challengers. He told me since I put down a deposit, it is marked as sold as submitted to Chrysler. So to me that is great news. I still dont want to get my hopes to high and wont believe I own one until it is parked in my garage. I also heard we are looking at about 31000 which is very affordable and thats hemi equipped.

I went to my local Dodge dealership to get my pin number for the Dr. Z challenger sweepstakes and they took down my information and said I could be added to the waiting list for a $5,000 deposit. The salesperson also said that pricing is not set yet, but it would be “Market” driven and expect it to be in the low to mid $40’s. So they appear to be setting expectations for significant dealer markups!!!

"Low to mid $40s"? Screw that. Wonder how hard it would be to go directly to the factory and buy one there.

I Don't think factories sell cars. As far as the price, don't forget the top o' the line Chargers are selling for $40,000.00-$44,000.00 The Challenger may become the next Prowler......
