well, the "source" said that the cars were to be used for shows and such, as every mopar event in the US wants the challenger there, and it is just pulled to thin...so they made ten more, and he said that the 10 new units were "dumbed down" show cars...things like non-functional radios and HVAC stuff...and he said that he was told that at least a few of them werent 6.1s...the engines were prepared to look similar to the concept 6.1, but they are not the same...i saw one at the mopar nationals, and they wouldnt open the hood, which makes me wonder..

 

I am second on the list here after a 1k non refundable deposit, but the dealer guaranteed MSRP

 

Why on earth would they do that? Sorry to sound dubious but c'mon. No one is going to sell a Challenger for MSRP when they can get more...much more.

 

I was wondering the same thing myself, but that is what they have written in the contract. Maybe there is going to be a larger production run than what was once expected.

 

Good luck...I hope it happens. I basically was thinking I need to shop the dealer with the lowest markup above MSRP and decide what the minimum premium I am willing to pay... $3k, $5k, ???

If I can get this for MSRP I will be super geeked...

 

Good luck to you as well. I certainly will not be shocked if the dealer doesn't hold up to their promise of MSRP. I could live with 3-5K above MSRP, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for better.
