I thought you guys could use a good laugh.

A friend of mine stopped by a large Dodge dealer in the Philadelphia, PA area and was informed that it will be receiving 9 2008 SRT Challengers. But because of their extremely limited availability- only 100 are being produced- his cars are subject to big "market adjustments."

This is how dealers give the entire business a bad name.

I call it triple black because, black stripes, black paint, black interior and this is not back in the day. Just look at the price tag..

Just got off the phone with one of the local dealers. I had spoken with them before but they didn't appear to know as much as I did. Well the sales manager called me back tonight and now he has his act together. More importantly he stated I can still get a 2008. They are expecting delivery of their first cars in 30 to 40 days. They DO NOT have a $20K markup and a deposit to hold a car is a refundable $500.00 I'm going over to lock mine down tomorrow.

Wish me luck!
Good for you, Bud!
Glad someone has the $$$ and connections to get to the front of the line. Your research paid off!
I'm happy for ya! Send some pics when she comes into your hands.

This happens pretty often in most retail industries. Its just greedy dealers assuming the average joe knows nothing more about the product they are selling than the dealer tells them. Very narrow minded and just as you say gives the dealer a bad name. [>:]

I would walk into that dealership with one of the many articles that stats 6,400 '08's are being made and ask him to try again....

Then I'd probably kick is rear just to get the point across.

Dealers lie all the time. I would be surprised if any of them kept their word to sell the car at MSRP when the cars actually arrive. I would expect them to sell the cars to the highest bidders. I would be surprised if they did not try to get as much money for the Challengers as they could. It seems like most car dealers don't mind lying and antagonizing their customers.

OK, I dropped by the dealer about an hour drive from my home today here in sunny AZ. I have ordered, with deposit a black with all options including the optional Eagle F1 Supercar tires in a 245/45R20 size up front and 255/45R20 in the rear 2008 SRT8 Dodge Challenger. The deal is a bit complicated but it's done and without a $20K markup.

More later.

Paladin06, I really hope it all works out for you. Post those pics when you get your car.
