I find it amazing that anyone who has/likes an LX platform car can bash another one.

Owning one and saying another one sucks is infantile and prejudiced!
Its like someone saying white is better than black, or vice versa.

Hey guys some people just don't get it, that's all there is to it...if they have no idea what the Challenger is then they have no business talking smack about it, not it's not really designed to haul 4-5 people and if you have (had) a Challenger you would know that. My 72 is not meant to put people in the back, I mean I can but I don't. Occasionally I'd take the family out on a ride but most times it's just me or a buddy riding along. That's what the Charger, Magnum and 300 do is haul people. I too feel that they messed up the Charger making it a 4 door but its a done deal now and it's still a good car from what I've heard people say that have owned them. Anyway just wanted to throw that out there. Be going home in a few days for R&R and hopefully get to see a Challenger somewhere...I think there's one at one of my local dealers so will be paying them a visit! Congrates to those that have theirs and have fun with them! I'll hopefully get an 09 but will have to wait and see.

 

Dodge stoped making Chargers in 1974 and have'nt made them again. They make a good looking car now they call a Charger but to me its has nothing to do with the old ones. They stoped making Challengers in 1974 and now there making them again and they are Challengers. The best year for Chargers in my opinon is 1968.

 

You have nailed it - this is a perfect explanation. They could have called the new Chargers anything and consumers would have never known/cared since it was a new design/look.



If you we're to call the new Challenger anything other than Challenger (ok or almost Cuda), consumers would say "your crazy look it's a Challenger!"

You have to admit from a marketing standpoint the Charger name has some pretty powerful name brand recognition. That was probably the biggest motivation for using the Charger name.

Thats our story and were sticking to it.

 

Been driving the lastest version of the Charger since June 05 and love it. It is a car you drive on a long trip or race around town and it kicks a lot of other cars in the butt. I feel the group it was targeted at was the people that maybe had one when they were kids, but now have teenagers to drag around. I don't have any kids to haul, but do take people to lunch at work.

I have had a lot of Charger guys complain that it has four doors, but they were all standing around checking it out. I have taken it to several Charger only shows and have never had any hassles even got a letter from the guy running the Charger registry asking me to add my car. Not going to do it since it is going the be replaced by a new Challenger R/T in late August .

 

It is stupid for the different Dodge/Chrysler's to bash eachother, but I guess sibling rivalry can sometimes be the fiercest. Maybe they're jealous of all the hoopla surrounding the Challenger, where the Charger is pretty common (and now starting to be adopted by police fleets) and the Magnum is going away. I actually really liked the Magnum. Blacked out that thing looked pretty mean. Charger never did it for me, but it's cooler than your average family sedan.
