Billionaire, the blue at the show wasn't B5 blue, it was the blue that dodge has on their site. They're renderings of the colors are just way off. Take a look at Torred when you go to models and colors on dodge.com. It looks like dark red, nothing like the one at the show. I've seen the same thing on other cars on their site, not sure why they can't get it to look right.

Personally, I'm digging the black or silver. To me silver is sleek, black just plain out screams something intangible most of the time but it looks badarse.

I for one believe Dodge has heard you guys loud and clear. You will see the colors you want... just for one second have some patience. ( The I want it and I want it now) has to be kept under control. Have you heard of the Challenger Classic... well thats a nice way to get the colors you want. Be patient guys. Its been 35 years since you've been able to get one of these new, can we just wait and see the whole picture. You guys want Challengers and Dodge wants you to buy Challengers, just show some patience and I'm betting you will get what you want, within reason

I think you may be missing the point. Some people, myself included, want to be able to buy what they want when the car debuts. Meaning, have all the available options for the year when the year run comes out. heck I am paying close to 45K for this thing. My cousin told me that there would be "feature" releases during the second half of the 09 run but did not go into detail. now we know a little more. Personally, I wanted to buy the color and car I wanted as soon as the 09's came out, so I could "hopefully" get a low production number for the year. But alas, I am so disappointed in Chrysler's attempt to maintain hype and anticipation for the 09, 10, etc. that I think they are doing more harm than good.

My 45K worth,

I personally think you should be able to get whatever color you wanted if you ordered it, but I don't think you would want to pay the premium for the interuption cost in the assembly process. You could probably have the car repainted by a paint specialist cheaper than what dodge would charge, unless there was 500 or so requested and they did a special run.

I think they will offer more colors as time goes by, but you just have to wait. If you want the first 09's then you have to compromise, simple as that. Not a fun thing, but reality, and we know "reality bites".

It seems to me like the color would be the easiest thing for Dodge to change. All they have to do is put a different can of paint in the robot that paints the cars, right? Is it much more difficult than that?
That is a joke. Manufacturing today is very automated not like yesteryear. You have to select a color worthy of a Challenger, pick the supplier, but it in correct quantities for the market, interrupt this monstrous manufacturing wheel to change the paint and many numerous other things.

Thanks for saying that lear4406, we need to be patient for sure.

I you want fast food go to McDonalds, if you want to be patient and get a great meal go to Ruth's Chris Steak House.

Jeremiah,

You are undeniably correct, life in this industry is turing out to be a waiting game. However do you not find it parculiar the color choices for the debut of the 09's, considering the enourmous out cry for retro colors? I would have settled for yellow or green over the "gray". I did notice the color palette is more full for the second half of the year. I am learning Chrysler is intending to feel out the market and provide more options and colors as the 2009 year progresses. I think however this has a draw back, it reduces the number of people who will actually wait to purchase one of these vehicles. Chrysler stands to frustrate buyers if they can not get what they want when the car debuts. I too feel the tension. I wanted a low production number, but at the same time want to get one. Patience is a virtue, but I have been waiting since 2006. I think at least two years ago when they decided to build these things they could have given some consideration to the debut colors a bit more.

Additonally, I fear the market life for cars such as this will be limited. I see 1970-1974 all over again. I will be surprised if this car runs more than 3 years. I suspect, though hope I am wrong, the market for the challenger will come to its economic end after the 2011 production year (possibly 2012). If this is the case, getting a 2009 would be nice because it would provide the greatest flexibility in terms of after market options that come out, up to date maintance and excitement, but as 2011 draws on, enthusiasm will wane - as will options and quality and the eco system too will start to move on. Sure there will be more color choices, but the details will decrease, like Chrysler has done with other vehicles. You notice it in things as simple as door egress lighing being replaced with reflectors, or more plastic where there may have been fabric or metal and less power as well as engine options. It is all too common a repeating theme.

So get'em while they are hot - even if the colors are not.?. Not sure I agree. I may become a wanna be instead of an owner. I wont pay 45k for something that is not exactly the way I want, nor, by on the waining end of the production market and get a compromised car.

So, on the one hand I have an angel on one shoulder saying one thing, and a gremlin on the other saying something else. At the end of the day it comes down to finances, quality, value and price.

Cheers signed,

73Cuda340,

I am a little surprised as well, but I am not a marketing genious. I do however expect more colors as 2009 progresses.

Patience is a virtue, but I have been waiting since 2006.
I feel your pain and have been on this forum since the 1st month it started. I still remember trying to come up with creative posts about the Challenger 2 summer ago trying to keep the discussions alive on this forum. I do not have that problem any more but I still feel your pain.

I see 1970-1974 all over again.
Yes, I have been saying all along that history will probably repeat itself.

I hope you get the color you want. Hang in there.
