Can you still pre-order cars with the exact specifications that you want on the car that dodge offers? I know that you used to be able to back in the day. Any info on when i should order an 09 challenger so that im gauranteed to get one would be helpfull also.

Well i was just talking about in general, from people who had ordered other cars.

 

It is still done, although the degree of customization varies by brand/model. For example sometimes there are option packages, and if you want heated seats, you're getting heated mirrors and a premium stereo no matter what. All the 08's will probably be pre-sold and just about all fully optioned. I'd guess sometime during the middle of the 09 model year you'll be able to do an order where you check whichever option boxes you like out fo the choices they give, and wait a couple months for your car.

 

The latest rumor is that you can order a 2009 starting in June.

 

That's what I understand as well.

If you want to find out what degree of "control" you'll have ordering your car (and the specific options you can get), check out Dodge's website and try to "build your own" Charger. You'll get a feel for how options are "packaged".

 

Yea, but you also have to wonder as to when it will arrive if you order a 2009 in June.

Dodge announced there would be 6400 SRT-8's for the US, and there are 8000+ pre-orders. That means there are going to be quite a few of those getting the first 2009's.

 

If you order in June, then they will arrive in September.

 

You will be able to order the 2009s long before that, order banks will open in February or March, still trying to nail down the date. It's looking likely that they will open the banks near the debut of the base and R/T models in March.

Production of the 2009 models is currently set for June, earlier than originally planned.
