Agreed! The R/T should be the sweet spot.

Lower Price
No GGT
Lifetime Warranty

Did someone say it uses Regular Gas, rather than Premium? And if you really want the HP there's always the aftermarket.

Hopefully I won't have to go aftermarket for an appealing appearance package. I suspect Dodge will blend a page from the Mustang playbook with a page from the Charger playbook. The SRT8 will say pure while the R/T will have a variety of appearance packages. Of course, I'm only guessing!

The SRT8 is GREAT, no doubt about it. But the R/T will be more practical so that's where I'll be.

I love it. Glad Dodge stayed very faithful to the concept. I remember how disappointed I was that the Mustang lost its 'edge' going from the concept to the current production model.

Only qualm (and it's extremely minor) the taillights look vaguely like those off a Nissan 240SX.

Production version looks awesome. Price consideration will probably force me to the R/T. Better to have a 5.7 in the driveway than a 6.1 in repo

My guess is that the price difference betwen an R/T and SRT will be around $6K based on the Charger pricing. When you consider the higher hp motor, handling suspension, high flow exhaust system, Brembo brakes/slotted rotors, custom interior, special badging, and WOW factor, etc., it is worth the difference.

A sharp computer expert on allpar did a profile overlay of the concept Challenger and the 2008 production model. Both cars are very similar but the 2008's rear window has a sharper 45 degree rake and the front and rear bumpers are more prominent due to safety reasons.

Overall, I am very happy with the final product. If they would just get rid of that ram's head on the hood.[:@]

Jeremiah posted something yesterday with side by side shots, but the overlap would add even greaterr clarity. No matter either way, be it the mirrors, perhaps mesh where butterfly valves were, or the ugly rams head. I'm still happy

Better put aside a little more money. These are $32 per letter:
