Roller Coaster Ride

Roller Coaster Ride
When I ordered my 2009 Challenger SRT on May 16, I was sky high. Since then, I have been up and down because of the status codes and monthly dealer allocations.
Has anyone else experienced this roller coaster ride?
5/16/08- BA status
5/20/08- BG status
5/30/08- BX status
6/24/08- BG status [:@] (missed June allocation)
7/3/08- BX status
7/8/08- BG status [:@] (missed July allocation)

RE: Roller Coaster Ride
Cuda, I have felt your pain before. Ordering a Corvette is the same roller coaster ride IF your dealer does not have an allocation. The selling dealer has been informed of his/her allocations, dont let them tell you otherwise. If they do not have an allocation for an SRT8, your order will not be accepted. The dealer knows this but many will string you along in the hopes that they will be given an extra allocation from their zone rep. My advice, find a different dealer that can get you a car. I agree that the allocation system doesnt seem to work in the customer's best interest all the time, but the Dodge boys arent he only ones who use it...

RE: Roller Coaster Ride
I went from BA to BG to Bx and back to BG. HOWEVER, it is way too early to start getting upset. We are still in the 2008 model year. The 2009 model year will kick off in 3 weeks with the SE's and the RT's. We are going to have to wait for our SRT8's. There is no way to change this! I would suggest that you prepare for a Christmas or later delivery. That is assuming they even build SRT's before then. Just think of all the dealers that have orders for SE's and Rt's and then remember that you have one order. The good business decision is to build the cars that they can sell in volume first. Additionally, they will build for the customers (dealers) who buy in volume first. We have a long wait in front of us so there is no reason to get antsy yet. Let's resume this discussion in late fall. I am hoping for a March or April delivery, assuming my car gets built.

I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. They are not even thinking about the 09s until after the July break and from what I hear, the SRT8 version will be last on the plate. I would double check my facts, but I wouldn't clean out your garage until winter at the earliest.
Good Luck,
Dave

RE: Roller Coaster Ride
Here are the codes and their meanings. Mine was in D for over 2 months. D is good, but until you hit D1 don't get too happy. From D1 to storage is about two weeks. Then you wait to be shipped, one to two weeks. Then the actual ship time is another one to two weeks.
As you can see...any B code really just means your dealer did the initial paperwork, nothing more. C means the factory has accepted the paperwork and D means they are now going to schedule it.
Good Luck,
Dave

RE: Roller Coaster Ride
I am not hitting the panic button yet or switching dealers. The one that I ordered my Challenger from sold 150 SRTs last year. I know that its allocation will cover my car but I was hoping to get it my the Fall- not in the dead of winter (I live in the northeast).

RE: Roller Coaster Ride
Now that is right on. Too many of our good brothers, and a few sisters, have been in and out of f status from what we have seen. I've only just begun with my order back on the 28th of May. I hate thinking if and how many times I meet the the ugly "F"
