Default Should I Settle???

I've been saving the pennies for a few years now withthe plan of ordering a car around Feb or March, for a spring delivery. Now with the possible merger stuff, members cars "getting lost", worrying about disgruntled factory workers not caring about quailty if they know the plants will close (not to place blame, or start rumors), etc etc etc. I found a few cars CLOSE to what I would have ordered, nothing on them more than what I want, but several things less. IS it worth waiting until the time frame, and ordering, or snatching up what is there. I don't have all the ducks in a row yet, so I can;t go out and buy it tomorrow, and I know inventory can change, but I'm totally stuck with what to do.. HELP

Depends dj...

How is your current financial condition? How secure is your income source? Will you be borrowing or paying cash? How BAD do you want and/or need the car optioned the way you had planned? How would you balance the financial risk vs. the risk of not getting it exactly as you would like it optioned?

Would it be worth waiting and seeing how many folks go out and buy one only to find themselves in over thier heads and needing to get out? Even if Chrysler sells out to GM tomorrow and quit building Challengers next week the cars will still exist. There will be some who will purchase Challengers and not have the financial resources to keep them. These cars will show up in the used markets after the new ones have sold from the lots. There will be time to buy in the future... possibly at killer deals to if you search hem out once the economy does whatever it is going to do.

Might be worth waiting... then again... might not...

Nobody can really say for sure...

Good Luck with your decision whichever way you decide... Cheers!

My friend, buy now. It is a buyers market, and haggle to death a great price.

In my opinion they will certainly not close the Brampton plant. All of those cars are well regarded and popular. It is one bright spot for Chrysler. I think they will keep the Dodge brand and some of the cars, like the 300C, Charger and Challenger. They are higher end cars with good profit potential. I do worry about where they would get engines to put in these cars, however. Somehow a Dodge without a hemi kind of blows. But GM does make some kick ass engines. Anyway, my advice, for what it's worth. Buy the best car you can right now. I would not be afraid to order it. Unless you are in a big hurry, I think GM will certainly want to accomodate all orders. In fact, I think the backlog at the Brampton plant says volumes for the reasons to keep it. I don't think there is a back order for PT cruisers...

I think mopar2ya summed it up pretty well: NOBODY can tell what's going to happen. You have to do what's best for you.

Unfortunatly it would not be cash. I am trrying to get a good down payment so my payments would be managable. I have never ordered a car with what I want. I did for the wifes Escape, and enjoyed the experience. I have a dealer willing ot work with me as far as ordering goes, but they have no cars on the lot, the one SRT8 they got was shipped the day it came in. Aroung this dealership there are a lot of SEs and a few RTs and I think I saw 1 SRT8. RIght now I'm just on the fence with a gun so to speak, and does the trigger get pulled or not.[&:]
