RE: Should I Settle???
My reply for what its worth and that ain't much, LOL ....here goes and as all or most of you know I really had a hard time getting ANY Challenger and tried VERY hard for over a year and finally got a 2009 R/T which I was able to order the way I wanted it. I had to pay full MSRP but not a penny more and I only did that because no.1 I really wanted this car and No. 2 as I see it I'm not sure how long they will build thses cars,( I hope 3 or 4 Yrs at least) . In any case untill I got it in my hands I was really afraid I was not going to get one. Now,saying all that,I can only say what I would do if in your case. First if you REALLY want this particular car then go find one,as close to what you want in it,that sitting at some dealer's lot now and if you have the money and/or financing buy it now!! If your not able to do that right now but can 6 months from now then go immediately to different dealers and really argue hard for a discounted price to order exactly what you want. I say that because they are discounting a 2008SRT8 in Hemi Orange at Sansone Dodge in Neptune NJ , they are offering discounts on Challengers at Lucas Dodge in Milleville NJ and several other dealers in southern NJ including Mikes Famous Dodge and Sport Hyndia/ Dodge near Atlantic city. But you must make your own mind up like many others have posted on here.
I can promise and guarantee one thing though, If you do end up with a Challenger you will be VERY HAPPY and have a BIG GRIN every time you drive it as we all can attest to. I can't nail one real reason why that is as there are too many to list . Even my wife who is a cheap ole broad and thinks I'm crazy and cars are just to get from point A to point B in now gets and has a smile on her face every time she rides in my 2009 R/T.
Good luck in which ever way you go, Fat Cat[sm=gears.gif]

I've been saving the pennies for a few years now withthe plan of ordering a car around Feb or March, for a spring delivery. Now with the possible merger stuff, members cars "getting lost", worrying about disgruntled factory workers not caring about quailty if they know the plants will close (not to place blame, or start rumors), etc etc etc. I found a few cars CLOSE to what I would have ordered, nothing on them more than what I want, but several things less. IS it worth waiting until the time frame, and ordering, or snatching up what is there. I don't have all the ducks in a row yet, so I can;t go out and buy it tomorrow, and I know inventory can change, but I'm totally stuck with what to do.. HELP

RE: Should I Settle???
I concur with what most have already said. Only thing I would add, and purley speculation on my part, is even if the merger happens (which I hope not). I don't think GM would stop production of the Challenger. The combined company will need to consolidate product lines, etc., that everybodys knows, and as stated earlier, Brampton, to me would be way down the list given what it produces. Remember, they have DEMAND for these cars unlike most of their overall portfolio. I suspect they'd spend their efforts slashing SUV and truck overlaps, etc. before worrying about a niche unit that has good press, multiple internet forums, etc...would just be a very bad PR move out of the gate IMO.
But then again...they don't seem to make many good moves...

RE: Should I Settle???
Glad Fatcat got his Challenger
If GM ever got the Chrysler Brand,,,they will distroy it and maybe keep Jeep...
If you really think the Challengers are as hot as you say they are,,,They would not
be sitting on every dealers lots that I pass In the NYC,NJ and PA area....
Most are the Rts and some V6s sitting on dealers lots.....
I would have bought a really nice Black 2009 Challenger RT but it was a automatic.......(I want a manual}
For $29,999(basic but so what}
I wanted to see what the Camaro SS will look like first.
But since the Deal with GM and Chrysler is DEAD Maybe if I don't like the 2010 Camaro SS maybe then I will be the first to get
a 2010 Challenger Rt in Sept of 2009.....If I buy a 2009 RT in March it would be already almost ayear old,so its best to wait a tad longer....
And if Chrysler goes BK7 or BK11 ,I would think the Challengers will be worth more since there will be less cars made
