Just curious how many people are actually going to be placing their order for the new Challenger SRT8 when dealers officially can place orders on Monday December 3rd.

Not me, not till they come out with an honest-to-god 6-speed manual tranny (with 3 separate pedals and all) and a price WITHOUT the inevitable "dealer adjustment value" added to it. I'd venture to day that probably 90% of those with the money to get an 08 are going to be put away in garages and won't see very much daylight - very, VERY few are going to be daily drivers, at least for the first couple or years.

After those 2 critical requirements are met (if I haven't succumbed to a Charger yet)... THEN I'll be by to see my Dodge dealer.

These cars will not have the 6 speed. 2009 will. And, that will be the last of the LX. The new LY platform will be out soon, and the body will change again. So, yes, I agree that the vast majority of these will be car show, trailer queen, parade cars. If I had the $$$ I would jump on one. But, when I can afford one, I will certainly want to drive it.

I got the call from my dealer today, I wil be going in Monday morning to place my order. Talked to them about pricing and they are going to sell to me at MSRP so I am excited to get it at that price.

Mine will be driven as much as possible here in Michigan, it will be stored in winters but other than that will be enjoyed by me and my family!

My problem is I am having a hard time deciding what color!

Read the blog on Dodge.com , went straight to my dealer and asked was I going to be able to order my Challenger on Monday and they were totally in the dark. I was asked where I got my information????? I told them Dodge.com, it was news to them. Even though I have been bugging the crap out of them from jumpstreet, I know more about the product than they did or do. Maybe they should hire me to sell their cars!

I'll go on Dec. 3 -- 2008. Or maybe 2009. That way, I outta be able to pick up a six-cylinder model, slap my 1970 badging (including R/T insignia) on it and roll for a truly reasonable price. No way am I going to pay one cent over MSRP or give the government even MORE of my money in gas-guzzler tax.

Waiting to "order" mine until July of 2008........

2009 Challenger R/T with 5.7L & 6 speed manual ...... (limited lifetime powertrain warranty)
Savings=
$2100.00 gas guzzler tax
$ 500.00 regular (as opposed to premium) fuel per year (@ $0.20/gallon average) - estimated
$ 500.00 annual fuel savings with the 5.7L MDS vs SRT8 6.1L - estimated
$7475.00 difference between R/T and SRT 8 base models (estimated - based on Charger pricing)
Savings on insurance - unknown.....
$ 825.00 sales tax savings
$11400.00 savings getting R/T vs SRT8 [sm=drooldude.gif] (approximate)

Then, when I get bored.....
$7155.00 - 5.7L supercharger package (500+ RWHP) - I won't care about mileage or the warranty by then.
[sm=burnout.gif]

Looking to get the most out of the car AND my dollars......and eat a few Mustanks and Cramaros in the process.

The R/T option, again, is very attractive. Anyone ever evaluate the K&N Air intake upgrades? Are they actually good for a boost in HP? If so, that's an easy enough mod to do in an afternoon and undo (when you need warranty service).

Of course.....if they offer a SuperBee package (a la Charger) my fate is sealed.....

You can only order from the first 5000 on 3 Dec 2007.

A Challenger is not a SuperBee just like that four door bucket of bolts is not a Charger.
