SRT8 Price Reduction
Has anyone heard the rumor that the gas guzzler tax on the 2009 SRT was reduced from $1,700 to $1,300? The Dodge web site and Edmunds does not reflect this, however. Maybe someone got confused and was referring to the $400 drop from $2,100 (in 2008) to $1,700 (in 2009).

Kevin the SS isn't faster just get off theese forums man go back to the Camaro forums , this is for Challenger eunthuasiasts ... save the Chevy Propoganda for another board.
Automatic - 400hp
Manual (weighs damn near the same as srt) - 422hp.

and you are wrong.... we still have to wait for tested numbers.. but
manual=3860 0-60 in 4.6
auto= 3916 0-60 in 4.9
200+lb weight difference between the challenger and camaro....so DAMN NEAR is wrong..
please I beg you to research before you claim things...it is what I do and it gives you CREDIBILITY on this forum. If you dont it makes you seem like a fanboy.
back on topic...I dont think the increase is that much but hopefully it is just that they packaged certain things together.

(Since it's a tax...doubt it will go down)
I have to disagree with you on this point BLK6050.. I believe the right thing to do would be for the government to return the GG tax on all SRT8s as they are obviously unsure what to charge for said tax. If they don"t return the tax I think a Detroit Texas Tea Party is in order... in honor of our founding fathers Boston Tea Party. Then there should be equal burnout opportunity for all... in honor of the foundation that is the core of these Great United States...

I was at the dealer yesterday and they had two auto SRT's, both had a GG tax of $1700. Mileage was 13-19, versus 13-18 for the 08.
