Is the SRT8 worth 11K more than the R/T?
If someone has that kind of money to drop we can do anything you want. I thought we were staying pretty sane on the money issue? :-)

Couldnt you just build the bottom end and put a 1000 hp halfshaft they have out for the lx cars?

Most S/C applications for the Challengers will not be able to work with headers for the limits of the bottom end. About 560hp is the rods limits. You will have to pick your poison from the two routes. We just dynoed the Kooks setup with out the Corsa cat back and ended up with 464hp and 450 tq at the crank. This is also using the Diablo tuner for the 6.1L.

Cost of Headers $700, cost of supercharger $6,000.... look on that guy's face in the mustang as you blow past him with the extra 140 hp on either the R\T or the SRT ...........priceless.

So the real argument is a used SE next year with a 6.1 dropped in it. not R/T vs. SRT... More like SE turned into SRT. How about that??? Can it be done for the price of an R/T??? I figure 17k used SE can you build an SRT off that for less than 30k???
that's what im thinking. Saw the 6.1 block for 6k on MOPAR supercenter. Is it possible??? NO cheap parts top quality stuff good headers good exhaust.

I think there is one point that keeps getting dropped... the SRT is the complete package. It is not an SE with a big motor and heavy duty rear end. It is not an R/T with some performance mods. The SRT team designed the package to all work together... head to toe. To replicate the car starting with an SE or an R/T would cost WAY more than the package and most likely with mixed results. If you need an SRT then I would suggest that you will have to pony up. If the R/T does the job... get it. The R/T will be a very respectable car I am sure. Dont let the naysayers tell you otherwise. If you just gotta have the Challengers unbeatable style and dont care for the heavy hitting V8s then get the SE... I am certain it too will be a winner in more ways than you could think of.
If you gota have the SRT though... youll just have to get an SRT... bottom line. I am certain beyond a shodow of a doubt that if you weigh out why you are getting a Challenger and look at the models available you will find the perfect model for your liking... Hope this helps somebody... Cheers!!
This is true but you can do aftermarket brakes and the Mopar stage2 suspension with the Hotchkis sway bars and get the most from the parts as the SRT does and more. Plus the car can be lowered 2.5" with this setup so it will look great and you can supply your choice of wheels!
Or blower etc... lot's of good possibilities if you are into personalization!

The car looks awesome with any package. For me.... If I want to mod a car to go faster, why not start with the fastest, most complete choice?
