Default WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR YOUR CHALLENGER

[>:]As I try to find my Dodge Challenger or even try to order a 2009 I'm wondering what all the members on here have paid to get thier Challenger? I know this is kind of a private matter so if you don't want to give the exact price thats fine but would anyone on this forum care to at least be honest and tell whether or not you paid MSRP, under MSRP, or quite a bit over MSRP. I know that I've saved for over 2 1/2 years now and have $41,000 to buy one and here in NJ it will cost me an additional $3,600 in sales tax so I'm talkin approx $45,000 and I realize that. But to pay more than that for a car that dealer invoices at $37,690 is way out of line. now with whats going on in the other posts about delays and order changes and lost orders I think Dodge and or Chrysler are playing a keep the price high for the dealers game and actually creating demand for this car by making everything including information about them scarce as hensteeth!! Hell, I haven't even been able to get one dealer yet to even write an order for a 2009 R/T which there is information all over the place including a buyers guide for all 3 models. So what hell is going on I say?? Thats why I'm so curious as to what you VERY LUCKY members payed for your soon to be delivered CHALLENGER. So give it a thought and let us know so some more of us can negotiate a Challenger too. Thanks Everyone, Fat CAT

I for one paid over msrp, and still have California tax on it. I used "play money" for the tax's and added cost, so I guess it was better then giving it to a Casino :-Þ

I also payed over MSRP here in Jersey. I didn't like it, but I could afford it. There was no negotiation, just a set price. I walked in with a check, and walked out with an order. Now I have a VIN, an insurance quote, and a lot of impatience waiting for my car.

Was on 3 waiting lists. First dealer #1 on thier list asking MSRP + $20k , a decision made when order banks opened up, consider this one out of reach. Second dealer #33 on thier waiting list... not gonna happen, too many in line ahead of me, but they were asking MSRP. Third dealer lost thier list and had to find it so wouldn't quote me anything, arrrrgh... I was #1 on thier "lost" list.. Called around got quotes (unfortunately, this is now after the order banks have already opened) for $10k, $20k and even $30k over MSRP. Third dealer eventually found thier list, which I was #1 and sold to me for MSRP. We have 9.1% sales tax on auto's here in King County in Washington state (thank the democrats for that) so total out the door will be about $45,800. That's how it's gone for me... Cheers!!

MSRP+doc fee+ sales tax+Tag+ title+lemon law fee total around $45K. Less than the RAM SRT.

#1 on dealers list for over a year, then, I was told MSRP. One year later( I knew it was to good to be true) I was told $5000 over invoice. They still told me it was not necessary to put money down, said they didn't operate that way. So I'm holding my breath till I get the keys in my hand.

We had a similar thread some time ago and if I remember correctly most paid MSRP. We all have the tax and tag thing going so the total cost of the car will be around $45K.

I understand only wanting to pay $1K or less over MSRP, but you're late to the game. You may get lucky and get one for what you want to pay but I think the odds are against you. My opinion, if you want an 08, you're gonna have to pay more for it. The 08's, even ones sitting on the lot when the 09's arrive, will not be let go cheap. Right or wrong, they will be considered "collectable" and therefore demand a premium. You've got $41K, I say if you really want an 08, spend a couple extra bucks, or be satisfied with an 09. Good Luck.

By the way, MSRP for me.
