So the Viper weighs 4100 lbs? This car will need more horses to compete with the new Mustang!

the new stang only has 300hp...with the 6.1L, this car will make very short work of the GT...

oh..sorry..i was talking about the regular GT...the GT500 will likely be faster, but with ford cancelling the GT (40), the GT500 is now their flagship performance car...and compared to the SRT10 viper, or the new Z06, the GT500 is nothing...also, the GT500 is going to be VERY expensive from what i have read...and the challenger still has the possibility of a 6.4: "392 hemi" in the future, which very well could have the ability to handle the GT500...

and for what it is worth, like the rest of the fords fast vehicles, the GT500 is a forced induction car, as ford cant make a competitive vehicle without it...

BTW, the article says the GT500 should be in the mid to high $30s.

What he is saying is the dealer will mark up the price big time so then it would probably cost around $60,000 instead of $40,000, which is what happened with the Ford GT, it was supposed to cost a little less than $150,000, but dealerships were charging over $200,000 for it. Does this make sense, or do you want me to further explain this?

I still think the 6.1L is going to be just as fast as the GT500 despite what the numbers RATED hp & torque numbers say, because the acceleration and dyno numbers sound very close, and the heavier LX cars with the 6.1L are not that far behind the GT500 numbers and they don't have the T-56 Tremec, which the Challenger will.
