What is the expected price for the Challenger?
the PT cruiser had potential if they would have made that panel van concept they came out with years ago but like most of the chrysler models over the years like the plymouth prowler which they should have put a small V8 in we will see how the challenger fares with these gas prices and insurance costs so high the only reason the viper has survived so long is because of it's low production numbers if the challenger does the same thing keeps production mumbers low which i think they will it may last longer than 3 years
Hi guys,
Got a call from my dealer oct 22nd and here is what he told me:
first run, 5500 units, one for each dodge dealer, available late april, all SRT's with auto, asking $45,000.00 for theirs which equals $6500.00 over invoice. I gave em a grand and bought it. Will help ease the hurt at tax time!

if 45 is 6500 over, then 38500 is list. considering price of status to Lincoln, Beemer, Vette, Cadillac.
I'd do the SR8 at 38500. Trade in my charger for part of it.

This is the only car I can consider dropping coin like $40kish on. I initially winced when I read your post, but I get it now. I think you're stating you get a whole lot of bang for the buck, right?

If the 2008 Challenger comes in at $38, 500, it will be equivalent in price to a Charger SRT without all of the three option packages.
That is what I expected. We will know for sure in about a week or so.
I will avoid the rush and the over MSRP prices by waiting until the 2009s come out.

Totally forgot about the redletter announcement for Thanksgiving-ish pricing info. Thanks for the reminder. A new significant date to pine for. Cool.

Well, look what you are buying. Not the hemi, that is a given. specificly, I think, you are buying sheet metal (that is styling) and its associated technical perks, as well as the prestige of the coolest, nostalgic, muscle car in the world, and being first on block.
T birders did same thing at 5 to 10 over sticker for first dibs. 5 years later, cars worth half of list or less.
for me, something, "more than a car"...less than, " most important thing in my life"
Went to my 30 year class reunion in 2004. Classmate shows up in new cream colored high end Chrysler 300. I park T bird next to it. Who got asked, "Who drove the yellow Thunderbird?"
Funny thing, group 69 to 74 reunion being planned for Oct 08...Steve's driving Challenger 1970 or 2008/9

Some noobish questions for you dudes.
I really want a car that's gonna smoke my roomate's mustang gt (07) and my buddy's subaru wrx (non sti). After having watched vanishing point and talking extensively with a buddy of mine who had several challengers back in the early seventies I've decided this is the car for me.
Is the 6.1 going to be enough to meet my "requirements"?
I already have a savings account started to put together a $20k downpayment. Going to take me a couple, maybe three years to get enough in there to do this. I'm hoping I can get one out the door for no more than 40. Am I in for a rude awakening?

The old Tax,Title and Tags....that's sounds optimistic.
Anybody in the forum get an SRT out the dealership for 40 or under?

How many of you guys are planning to order your Challenger instead of buying one off a dealer lot?
Normally, you can get a better price when you buy one from a dealer's inventory. However, if the dealer-ordered Challengers come in loaded with all the options (e.g., GPS, kicker stereo, sunroof, etc.), it can add about $5K to the MSRP.
I am planning to see how quickly the 2009 Challengers move off the dealer lots. If I find one that I like, I plan to travel out-of-state, if necessary, to buy it. Otherwise, I will order an SRT with minimal "frills."
