Whats differnence in hemi and hemi SRT
Hi there, a co-worker of mine already owns an 06 300c Hemi (i take for granted it has the 5.7L package i have no idea). Well yesterday he seen in a dealership an 06 hemi/leather/ fully loaded for 23k but it has 50k miles on it and he was looking into it. He said "yeah its got the hemi but i doubt it has the SRT" is the SRT just the 6.1L or what? I just don't understand.
Last question, for performance, does anyone have any experience in the Dodge Ram's with the hemi package? i imagine its a 5.7L and if anyone has a link where i can look at "customizing your vehicle from the factory" i would greatly apprecaite it. Anyone know typically the price on an 07 Ram with hemi package? ive done research i just can't find it anywhere.

RE: Whats differnence in hemi and hemi SRT
first off, the SRT8 models come equipped with a 6.1L, 425hp engine, while the 300C comes with a 5.7L, 345hp engine. also, the SRT8 models come with upgraded braking systems, suspension, wheels, body, etc...
as for a hemi truck build, check out www.DodgeForum.com . There are tons of guys there who are running modified hemi rams, from mildly modded to heavily modded.

Like 1 Bad Mirada said, the SRT model takes the performance of the Hemi to another level. The 5.7 has 345 hp @5,600 rpm with 375 ft/lbs torque @4,400 rpm. (due to increased compression ratio from 9.6-to-1 to 10.3-to-1, high-flow cylinder heads, and a more aggressive camshaft). The numbers for the 6.1 are: 425 hp @6,000 rpm and 420 ft/lbs torque @4,800 rpm. This results in 13.6 sec. 1/4s @105 mph and 0-60 mph @5.3 sec.
The SRT models also have 20" SRT wheels, 245/40ZR20 tires, 14.1" Brembo anti-lock braking system, specially calibrated springs, independent four-wheel suspension, upgraded front and rear sway bars, upgraded bushings, stabilizer bars, sturdier prop shaft, beefier rear differential, stronger axles, deeper exhaust note (2.8" pipes), cold-air induction, SRT-styled seats with oversized side bolsters, etc.
For what you get- an exclusive car that goes and handles- the additional $6,000 cost over an R/T model is well worth it.

RE: Whats differnence in hemi and hemi SRT
Actually, you and Cuda340 are confused. The 5.7L does produce 345hp & 375ft-lbs of tq, but that is in the Ram version. The LX car version (300C, Charger R/T, Magnum R/T) produces 340hp & 390ft-lbs of tq. The Charger Daytona R/T and the Road and Track R/T versions of the Charger produce 350hp & 390ft-lbs of tq. The output on the 5.7L varies from model to model; therefore, it is very easy to get confused with having to remember those versions let alone the different output versions used on the Durango/Aspen and Grand Cherokee.
The 5.7L is the more practical choice as it has fuel sipping MDS which shuts off half of the cylinders, allowing you to avoid having to make the decision between fuel economy and power as it has plenty of both. The 6.1L is for those who's top priority is performance, which you could expect Admiral Faragut to say about it "D@m# the fuel economy, full speed ahead."
There have been some tests that have found the SRT-8s to get 0-60 times around 4.7-4.9secs and that is with an automatic. In short, both are Hemis, just the 6.1L is the more performance orientated choice.
