Phil, I agree, there is every reason to believe that tough times are coming for the musclecar again. As a matter of fact, if gas prices had gone this high 2 years ago, there probably would not be a new Challenger.

The G8, Challenger, and upcoming Camaro are really cool, but unless gas goes down, they might not sell too many with V8s.

I have the VIN number and have been tracking progress through the Challenger Order Tracking through dodge.com. My car reached the shipping step yesterday and is waiting for a rail car. The last 8 of my VIN are 8H290625. My dealer said it should arrive on 6/16. They asked to keep it 24 hrs for a photo shoot and press conference with the local Mopar fan club. They are bringing in a 1970 Challenger for the shoot as well.

I am a first time buyer at this dealership. No one in my family drives a Chrysler product. The key to my order is, I put very little money down over 2 years ago when the car was still a concept. Or did I just get extremely lucky?

I also paid $5000 over MSRP, here in northwest Louisiana. I was down in Baton Rouge over the weekend and talked to a dealer there and he said they started at $5 over then went to $10 and sold the last one at $15 thousand over MSRP. So who knows what market is?
I went to the dealer after I saw anarticle in the newspaper about the challenger. I thought I could see one at the showroom. That's were i was in all of this. He tried tell sale me a datoyna (drove it and well.. it was OK )But told him i wanted the challenger. He called me two weeks later when someone else dropped out. I put my deposit down with in 2 hrs. That was May 23rd.

Looking forward to hearing from all of ya'll about how it drives and handles. Please respond quickly with the results!!!! AND PUT YOUR FOOT IN IT



Yep, it's a repeat of the 70's with the gas prices and the restrictions that the gov. is going to take.

I have been reading every post on here and have seen in them what a lot of you have been going thru. I feel their pain. My dealership is supposed to have their personal car on the rails as we speak. Hopefully when they start shipping the rest of the cars, they will ship to the larger terminals first. So they can get them out in bunches. We have a GM plant here and a rail terminal for them. So maybe i will get mine quick. This is coon-azz logic though LOL. Jim
