They are sending all of the built Challengers including all in transit to storage facilities. This is due to an electrical problem/short in the transmission electrical system. They are still building Challenger at a rate of 180 units a day with the problem but when they are finished they are sending them to storage yards until the issue can be isolated and a fix for the short. This includes approximately 400 Challengers that have left the Brampton assembly plant and are in transit. They are being placed in J S status and diverted to storage yards.

Hey Guys,
If they are shipping these cars to a holding area, what happened to the first 1000 cars that were shipped? Did these 1000 actually get shipped and arrive at dealerships? If they shipped, does that mean that they have a recall for the transmission electrical problem? I can't believe that there is a problem, not to say that you're making this up Budman. It's just that I'm astonished at this happening. They use the same transmission as the Charger and 300. That's why I felt safe getting the first year. Most of the bugs should have been worked out with the years of production of the Charger and 300. I'm also a little ticked off with the fact that they're not building the cars in VIN sequence. What good was it standing behind the doors of a dealership on 12/3 if someone that puts an order in March gets the car built earlier?
Thanks to Budman, Joani, Neal and Bob Frederick for all the help and information.

Hi Budman,
You do seem to be more knowlegable than most here. I certainly do not claim to know much, but please check my facts below.....
Checked the"unofficial registry", only one car in JS, this seems to be the normal step prior to shipping. Several are in JB (Sent to body vendor). In any case all have passed "J" status, which indicates they have passed "final inspection". It appears to me that if a vehicle was shuffled past final inspection and then put in storage for "repair" it would be in status code KZOA or KZOD. If someone intreprets this differently, please let me know.
Pease if all could update their order status on http://www.dodgechallengerregistry.com/index.php then we could all get a better picture what's going on.

Joani,
Whenever you get a chance could you check vinvision for me again, I went back to D1 again today. I was wondering what the build & ship dates have changed to now. Thanks, my salesperson is on vacation this week or medical leave. They have not returned any of my phone messages. 289405
