I have read a lot of posts wanting to disable the ESP. Do you have stock in Goodyear Tire Co? Even if you were to drag race the car, and I am sure most wont, you would want traction, right? I have raced most of my life and I can tell you a real racer would not want to sit in a cloud of smoke. They want to get from point A to point B faster than the other guy.
If you have to look cool, just put the car in manual first gear and shove the pedal to the floor. Oh yeah, and make sure your local tire store has your size in stock.

DiamDave,
The reason people want to disable these (helpfull) features is that they take away from driver skill. Most racing organiztions ban traction control because it makes those with less talent more competitive. Real race drivers steer with their hands and their feet. A brake tourque burnout is really not a burnout. A burnout without ESP and traction control means hold on baby, we're goin for a ride.

I have officially had it with Chrysler's customer support. This is the response I received to my e-mail complaint. I already knew it was in JB status. If they really valued my business, they would have called me.
Dear Daniel:
Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center
regarding your 2008 Dodge Challenger.
We appreciate the time and effort you took to write to us.
We have reviewed your recent email. In response to your email, our
records indicate that, the status of your vehicle is JB.
If we can be of any assistance for you please flee free to contact us.
We value you and your business. Thanks again for your email
Sincerely,
Philip James

My initial e-mail went something like this.
US Customer Service - Dodge Brand Site
Brief Description:
2008 Challenger status
Comments:
I am writing to voice my concerns on how long it is taking for me to
receive my 2008 Dodge Challenger. I have been constantly checking the status
online and through the dealer. I have been in Quality Control since June 10. I
have not been able to get a satisfactory explanation from anyone on
what is holding up my car. I have seen several cars that supposedly have later
order dates than mine being delivered. As I have stated before, I have
purchased 3 vehicles from my Chrysler dealer in the last 18 months. An
07 300C, 07 Jeep Wrangler, and 08 Town and Country. I am on the verge of
canceling my order. If I do, Chrysler will lose my business fro good.
The impression I am getting is that since this is such a popular car, the
company doesn't care about those of us who have ordered the car since
you will probably not have any trouble moving them. All I ask is for a
decent explanation on why mine is still held up in Quality and maybe a
estimated time when it may move to shipping.

Those of us who are planning to race their new 2008 Challenger, limited edtion, numbered dash plaque.....please raise their hand.
I for one love, I mean love, to go fast. I would be crazy to take my 08 Challenger to a sanctioned race. I would suggest waiting for a 09 or later model, then add the supercharger.
Good luck to all,
Dave

Birddog,
Do you really believe that Dodge gives a ....? They obviously don't. They are in the car building business, we are not the first crying, they expect this and have plans in place for this. You are just a number.
BTW: I with you all the way, I placed my order 12/3, 9:46am est, so I know exactly how you feel. What you should have told them was exactly how you feel and not sugar coating it. They would understand better. The car will be sold to you or someone else, they aren't worried.

Nope, sat and watched the original move. I know it sounded like a bad review, but one of my favorite car movies of all time.

I take it you watched the Fox TV remake from 1997. Yeah. The ONLY good thing about that version is the Challenger and the showdown with the Charger. Other than that, the movie should have been junked.

I watched Vanishing Point this weekend. You know crappy acting, great car chase!

Dave I am with ya!
Heres to hoping Pontiac doesn't come out with a retro Trans-Am or we will have to sit thru screenings of Smokey and the Bandit or KniteRider! Of course if GMC came out with a new big black van we could all watch reruns of the A-Team!

and the more that I look at the unofficial registry, the more I see how many cars that were ordered at later dates, with higher VIN and VON numbers have already delivered or are in the shipping stage. You would at least think that if it made it this far, we could at least find out what the badge number is. [:@]
