Will You be Satisfied with a 6.1?
For those of you planning to buy a 425 hp 2009 SRT, do you have any second thoughts about waiting for a 6.4 500 hp+ 2010 SRT Challenger?
I know the additional wait will be hard, but how will you feel after you spend $40,000+ for a 6.1 2009 SRT (only 55 hp more than the R/T) and a few months later the monster 6.4 is unleashed?

If it's soon enough I'll wait for the 6.4 - I'm waiting for the stick anyway.
If Chysler continues the indecisiveness on what and when, I'll buy the 09 SRT8 with manual. When the 6.4 comes out, i'll need to decide between selling/trading my 09 (doubt it) or just buying a second new generation Challenger (this one with a 6.4.)
If I was able to choose packages today - I would buy 2 as follows.
1) SRT8 - 6.4 liter manual transmission hardtop - Sublime
2) SRT8 - 6.1 liter manual transmission convertible - Plum Crazy

If I made the decision right now, it will be a Plum Crazy with a 6.4L manual. That is what I have wanting for a while. I might get black but now sure yet.

I would love to have a 6.4L, but i am only 16 so that would be a little bit more power than i need, so until i get older the 6.1L will do just fine.

dude your only 16? Trust me the 5.7 will be plenty of power I bought mine when I was 18 and It didn't dissapoint. Matter of fact im looking at getting the re-vamped 5.7 unless the 6.1 is gonna be standard R/T equipment. I don't have 40k to spend on a car, even over 5 years and im not retiring soon. Im going all black for sure. The 6.1 is whack unless it totally replaces the 5.7 just my opinion waste of money. The 6.4 will be very exciting to see though. But im definatly waiting till mid-year to see what's really gonna happen with this line-up.

With all the new EPA regs coming out I'll be very surprised if the 6.4 even sees the light of day, much less be offered as an option - at least not without putting an astronomical gas guzzler tax on it. I hope I'm wrong. [&:]

I'll always want the biggest engine, but for money reasons am going have to "settle" for the 5.7. I can see a guy who sprung for an early SRT getting a case of engine envy if the 6.4 does show up

I'm going to want the most powerful engine possible. I think I will always be pinning for a 6.4L or 6.5L, because you can never have too much power in a car. Larger displacement does not automatically mean lower fuel economy. If the newer engine can feature VCT and a higher compression ratio, it would probably resolve the problem.

My thoughts exactly.

I most likely will not be able to afford a 6.4L anyway, so i will put a new exhust, intake, a high performance computer chip, and maybe a shaker hood scoop on my 5.7L.
