I am sorry but with 6400 built there will be no high dollar SRT's in the future. The older sought after cars like HEMI Cuda Conv. had build numbers of around 11 (1970). I have doing this since the very early 80's and any Mopar with a build number of over 3000 is not a high dollar car.

 

IMHO the investment you are going to get is what you want that car to be for you. No one can tell the future but I for one would be willing to bet that todays cars except for some of the supercars will never garner the kind of money you see for the 60's and 70's cars. Best thing to do? Start saving money somewhere/somehow, take THE CAR and drive it like you stole it.

 

With the economy the way it is ... it would be no suprise if theese are the last real HEMI's. Everyone now is going green so enjoy the car now befeore the whole damn earth is green and you see 2012 challengers with two mode hemi's.

 

I can say for CERTAIN that in 35 years my SRT8 isn't going to be worth anything,even if the engine hasn't been replaced becuase I blew the original or wrecked it like that guy from N.C. In the first week of ownership I had damn near 1k miles on it and had already been to the 1/4 mile track.This car in my opinion is a toy,albiet an expensive one,but a toy none the less.DRIVE IT LIKE YA STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buying a new car is as much an investment as a bet on a roulette wheel. Could pay off big, but you're probably just wasting money.

 

I have been very active in the old car and collector car hobby for the past 25 years. I am past president of the local region of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

The topic of investment potential is a common question. The answer is always the same. If a car is popular when new, it will be popular 25 years down the road. That does not guarantee investment potential, and it is a foolish bet to buy the new Challenger for that reason.

Buy it as a daily driver. Enjoy it. It has a great warranty to keep it running cost free for many years. Hell if you wreck it, get another one. Just do not fool yourself into thinking that it has any investment potential.

The old joke in the antique car hobby is:

'How do you make a small fortune collecting cars? Easy - invest a large fortune at the beginning'

There is no real money made if you hold cars long term (over 25 years). Those people claiming to make money in the antique/collector car hobby are buying low and selling high at auctions or ebay - like selling another shirt off the rack.

 

Would have purchased a 1970 Challenger RT if future value was my only consideration.
New Challenger: to new and to many, but who knows.

 

Ditto on what most others here have said. Drive the car. Don't let it sit in the garage all the time. It's not an investment and even if it were collector cars for the most part aren't great investments. If you want to invest do it in real estate or the stock market.
