Hi all, I've been lurking on your site for quite a long time and have really enjoyed getting all the new Challenger info. As the name implies I have a '66 Plymouth Barracuda that I have been working on. When the new Challenger debuted in '06 I knew I had to have one. I have been amazed at all the secrecy surrounding this car. My father is an engineer for dodge and has worked there for 37 years in the truck division and no one there has any info on this car. I am having a hard time sorting out fact from fiction. Is the manual tranny coming out? I originally wanted an SRT but I am leaning more towards an R/T now. I called my dealership (my family has bought all their cars there for years and they shouldn't screw me....) and she said they were taking orders for '09s. I didn't think they could take orders for the 09's yet. I am still waiting to hear back from her because I am going to try to use my father’s discount. Whets the store, is the manual coming out in 09, and are they taking orders already?

Welcome to the CF! I've heard from some people that they took their deposits for the 08 and moved them to the 09.. just go to the dealer and see what they have to say.. after all you sound like a life-long customer there.

Thanks Mike, I talked to the Dealer and she said they were taking deposits for the '09's but had no info on them past "we'll take your money" they are asking for $1,000 down. I am going to wait a little while before making a call on it.
