Doom & Gloom
I've been waiting on the sidelines to purchase a new challenger. I'm glad I did. It seems there will be more death and pestilence.

Bottomline...if you truly want a new Challenger...the dealers are going to make you pay, as they feel they have a product that's in demand and the customer will be willing to paid their price (whether this is actually the case...only time will tell). The Challenger is the first new car I ever purchased were I didn't pay below the list price...but I knew that going in.....
With all that's happening in the car industry...if you want a really good deal go with a new Charger, or whatever....but if you want a new Challenger you can wait and hope, or just pay the price of admission and enjoy. It's really up to you and what you are willing to pay and what you really want................

Dealer Greed is all I can say
I understand free market . But the attutde of most is hurting Chrysler . Not hellping keep them afloat . I didn't buy my car from the local dealer . Even after trying to work something out on a SRT with 300 miles on it . And I purchased a new 06 300C and 07 Ram Quad Cab 4x4 from them . I just got the deal I needed on the car I really wanted some place else. And they weren't happy about it . I tried to trade for a R/T before they come out . This salesman said bring my truck and car I wanted to trade in to make a deal on one comeing in . When I did . He said he couldn't make any deals Till the car's came in . And when I asked what option's they had. He made up some story that he didn't know anything . A completely different story from what he had told me a hour earlier . Why would I want to buy from him after that .

Something I've noticed. In the past few years, several dealerships in San Antonio have been advertising themselves as having "menu pricing" -- in other words, no dealing. The price on the car is what you pay. (I bought a '94 Thunderbird from a Ford dealer that had menu pricing, and it was the simplest car-buying experience I've had. The price was very fair, and all I did was test-drive the car then write out a check. No haggling or listening to a line of BS). Oddly, NONE of the Chrysler or Dodge dealerships here advertises "menu pricing."

I bought mine from a local dealer. Took a week and a half for them to find another dealer within 300 miles to give up the car. Ended up coming in from Ohio. They had no problem selling it for sticker price minus all employee pricing and 1K cash back. He just said that was the best deal they could give. With almost 5K off, I had no problem. This was my first new car experience and I was impressed that my salesman was on the phone almost daily with me telling what cars he could find for me. They have any future business I may have. This was Feb 26th.
