Actually, doing that stuff was how my buddy got 20 mpg out of his '69 Chevelle SS 396 between Minneapolis and Des Moines back during the second gas shortage in 1979. When times are tough, dump the clutch and coast.

Yeah, my dad taught me a good interstate tip (but you have to be disciplined...and it irritates truckers, understandably due to vision, etc), just hang in the draft of a tractor trailer as close as safely possible.....you will draft and get ridiculous gas mileage....but again...it does peeve the truckers off.....

It's all good and well they do this hypermiling pulse thingy, but they better maintain min speed on the interstates.....or at least put their hazards on or something to make them more conspicuous.....

Kind of dangerous when you think about it... also highly illegal in Washington state and the troopers here will ticket you in a heartbeat.

Well, with $4.25 gas expected by July 4 and $5 by, what, Labor Day, a LOT of people are going to be pulling this stuff.

If some Hypermiler in the car in front of me is only doing 20 mph in a 45 mph zone thus preventing The Beener from either getting to work on time or causing the Big Mac and fries riding shotgun to get cold, I'm putting him in the wall. Simple as that.

And as I go past him letting him know who #1 is, I'll remind him that rubbin' is racin'!

That's assuming, Albeeno, that you can still afford to go to McDonald's after filling the tank.
