Default Mileage

Since fuel prices are falling, I decided it was time to check the gas mileage on my 2000 V-6 Mustang. Last weekend, my wife and I went down to Corpus Christi, and I filled the car to the brim there for the return trip to San Antonio. I filled it to the brim again last night when the tank was almost empty. What we have is a total of 355.6 miles (about 150 of which were driven with the cruise control set at 73 mph; the rest in S.A.'s crappy stop-and-go traffic). It took exactly 14.5 gallons. According to my amazing Microsoft calculator, that makes for a combined mileage of 24.5. Depending on the Challenger's mileage, I may yet keep the Mustang for a thrifty backup car.

On the trip Boston to Richmond we got 20.5 with our 08 SRT, around town getting about 17-18 if I keep the tach below 2000 RPMs
