Watch out!

The ACLU will be after that patriotic American saying how he infringed on the rights of freedom of speech and expression.

Good for him. God Bless him. We need more of him. I'll keep an eye out of the same atrocities in my area.

Great post, Paladin!

Also, did you notice that was some strange kind of U.S. flag? Look at the star pattern. It's wrong. Must have been made in Mexico.

Man I love that guy. Way to go! He has every right in our country to have respect of our flag and all it represents. Too many lives have been lost in our brief history to allow freedom to ring throughout the world because of patriots like this Vet. God bless him and allow more to recognize that freedom is earned and we will never reach the point where it is payed in full. We will always pay because there are too many who want the world under their thumb. Look around and see who your enemy is and you will see we as the USA have helped them out in one way or another. But they want their population to be subserviant and not enjoy freedom... in those countries the people have no say so and thats the way they want it to stay. As long as the US has freedom and is a beacon in a dark world we will be hated. Too bad we have so many here in the states who think you can sit down and have an intelligent discussion with these folks and they will see our point and say... yeah, now I see what you mean! They will not give up their power.

True, Lear.

Furthermore, if they are so enamored w/ their country, why'd they leave? Wanna know why? Cause they'ed be keel hauled for that kind of folly back in their native lands.

Come to this country and respect its sovereignty. Enter legally. Contribute your culture to the whole American culture and celebrate it, but don't isolate yourselves and create cultural factions making mini-countries w/o giving and getting to and from the American culture.

Otherwise, you're just bringing your lesser countries (and I'm not limiting this statement to this hemisphere) here; and we've already got a good one comprised of the best countries and people from around the globe.

What has made this country great is the people who came here accepting this bidirectional ebb and flow culturally speaking.

I don't want to press 1 for English. I want people to naturalize and speak the language of this nation, then I don't have to press 1.

To be fair we don't have an official language. I agree about the mini-country thing though. Some people come here and refuse to adapt to our culture. I understand it has to be difficult to leave your home country and you would look to familiarity at first. Going to people who have done what you're doing is the best way to get situated. But there are people who come live here and never learn to speak to people outside their group, never shop at american stores, and involve their kids only within their ethnicity. If your culture is so much better than ours you would not have had to leave your country.

Disillusionment is a sobering dish (English not being the official language). Wow, that's a shame in and of itself. Thanks for the 411.

I believe the U.S. should have an official language. Culture is based primarily on a common language. The beauty of the American English language is the fact it is comprised of the many cultures of its people.

Yeah it definitely should be the official language. But they've been trying to make it happen for hundreds of years now and as more and more foreigners come into the country it just gets less and less likely that it'll happen. Having to push 1 for english isn't so bad. . . when the day comes that I have to push 3 I'll complain lol

Yeah. If we're not careful, we'll all be speaking Dutch or German or Czech...oh, wait. That's the LAST immigrant wave. Course, I forget since my grandparents were immigrants and my Hispanic wife's parents are immigrants and half of both our relatives barely speak English, although they're perfectly happy not to and are taxpayers, just like all of you. But, hey, both she and I were born in Iowa and now live in Texas. Ain't America a great place or what? (By the way: In the 1700s, there was debate over whether the Constitution of the United States should be written in English or German, since, after all, England was the enemy and there were a great many Germans here already.)
