Well I got the okay!
The other day, I mentioned to my wife that when my son moves out with his 2006 Mustang GT I was planning to get a Challenger to put in its place. I could tell that it bothered her by the expression and hesitation in her voice about getting the Challenger but I told her it would not be until 2009 during the 2nd year model and she said okay! She warmed up to the idea because that is what I used to drive when I dated her.
That is what you call getting subliminal permission.

Well, every time I get frustrated reading about high prices for the Challenger and tell my wife that I'm going to get a Honda Accord, she glares at me and insists: " You're GETTING a Challenger." Yes, I'm afraid of her, so I guess I'll have to get the Dodge.

My Wife is all for it. Being she will not learn to drive stick and cannot drive the GTO, I told her I'd get the Challenger in Automatic so she can drive it. I asked her 425 or 505 HP? She wants 505 HP. She loves speed. She keeps telling me she'll get a ticket for speeding.... I keep telling her we will worry about it when the time comes.
It helps she likes going to car shows and is familiar with the muscle cars. Her favorite is the 1972 Nova. I guess I am lucky. She's looking forward to the release of these cars as much as I am.

My wife is as excited about it as I am. She has shared my dream of owning a Muscle Car and watched me through the years spending a ton of money trying to build one from aftermarkets parts. She will also be gald to see a real one so I'll stop buying collectibles.
I'll never stop...

My wife doesn't understand the relationship between man and machine, but she puts up with it. When I bought the Mustang right before the wedding, she wasn't happy. But I wanted a new car as my last new car was probably somewhere as a metal cube.

I have been itching for a new car for a while now, but we are patiently waiting for the release of the challenger...i dont know how long i can wait, though.
then again, considering my patience has been tested by the demon and the laser, i havent endured THAT much, but id like a new car anyway...

This circa 1989 pic may show why my wife says I'm GETTING the new Challenger. Although she really couldn't drive my '70 (the driver's seat was pretty much stuck as far back as it would go, which was fine with me but too much for her), she did regard the car as hers.

LOL. Actually, Nero, I was thinking of doing just that, since my wife held up a lot better than the '70 did. Since that was taken out in front of our old house, I suppose the new owners will wonder why two people with a new Challenger happened to select that place to take a pic.

RE: Well I got the okay!
I have the same situation as Jeremiah29:11. My son is getting married in November of this year.
I told the wife that I need a replacement for my 1971 340 'Cuda. I make her feel guilty. She made me sell it for $2,500 in 1980 (was in mint condition) when my daughter was born. I saw one not as nice on Barret-Jackson for $165,000!
Whenever she says that an expensive, gas-guzzling, tire-smoking muscle car is impractical and a waste of money, I remind her of the 'Cuda that I lost (see below) and she gets very quiet.
1971'Cuda (52,000 mi.)
340 ci. 10.5 compression
rallye-red
shaker hood (black)
front and rear spoilers (black)
340 billboard tape stripe
backlight louvers (black)
G60 x14 Goodyear white letter Polyglas tires
Ansen slotted 7" aluminum wheels
Chrome hood pins and dual exhausts
Thrush mufflers (no resonators)
