Actually, you could order it with or without a vinyl roof. Back then I was one of the few that every spent the money to get special vinyl wax
and wax the roof. My roof always had a shine and it never cracked like most vinyl roofs back in the day and I had the car for 5 years.

Most cars of any color got a black, tan, or white vinyl roofs or a dark color version of the rest of the car. In my case a dark green vinyl roof
to to with sublilme.

Vinyl roofs were popular back in the day but high maintance, prone to cracking from the UV rays and rust from moisture getting under the vinyl.

Paladin06 - The fastest I have ever gone in my life in a car was a 1972 Duster 340 which was 136 MPH on the 610 loop in Houston, TX. and I was not driving.

This was a crazy purple color that had repainted and the engine modified and very low end gears. The take offs were phenominal. The gas mileage was not
all that great on highway cruises but it was not my car anyway. I recall something like 11-13 mpg.

I started out with a '73 Charger SE with 400 4 bbl slapstick and dual exhaust
'66 Fury with a 440 that was NOT STOCK with a 4 speed
'78 Arrow Jet with a 340 6 pack stuffed in it with 904 behind it / was very hot / fun to drive
'70 Road Runner with a 383 4speed air grabber hood
'86 Conquest / '89 Conquest both TSI cars with all options on the newer

Conquest TSI are fun little pocket rockets and take to mods real well.

Now if a CF roof is avail, OMG sign me up. That is the ultimate pimp mod in my m3 communities

On the ///M's you can shave off 57 lbs and drop the center mass of the car greatly w/ the CF roof on there. And for only $6K for the roof and $3k for the labor you too can be the first in your hood to have one.

of course on the new E92 M3 just like the M6 it will now be std equip woo hoo.
