Heard somewhere it's the same platform as the GTO. With the financial situation at GM I really think this would be the case since development of a new platform would be expensive.

I thought that the Camaro used some "future platform", which coudnt be much more than a modified Zeta Platform, unless they used the Y Platform from the XLR and the vette....but i thought that GM said that "it wasnt just a rebodied GTO...

as for the engine, it was a chromed out LS2, but evidently there are rumors of an LS7 option.

Are they going to offer V6s or lower powered V8 versions on the Camaro. I honestly don't think they need another car that offers the same basic engine line-up of the Corvette in the same car division. If they don't they are going to screw themselves up more.

How many Mustang V6 cars do you see around town? [/rhetorical] Ford is doing very well with the Mustang, offering all flavors. You can be sure that Chevrolet will do the same with the Camaro. It wouldn't make sense not to, don't you think?

i agree..if this ugly new camaro makes its way to the showrooms, they will offer several engines, including a V6...

but, seeing as how they cancelled the prior camaros because they were taking sales away from the corvette, i would be surprised to see the LS7 in the camaro. also, i wonder how they will price the new camaro...they severely over priced the GTO, and they said "its the revival of the GTO, no matter how we price it, it will sell!" ...and it didnt sell...so the new GTOs can be had for 30 grand, if not less, with the LS2...

so will GM price the camaro the same way that the GTO was priced, and 6 months later be scrambling to give them away?

I would have to say around 75% of Mustangs I see are V6 models. This is why I think they need to offer a V6 option. Many people go to the dealerships with the V8 in mind and realize they will be happier with the V6 option due to the lower price of insurance, lower fuel costs, and lower price when purchasing. If they offer a V6 which do you think they will offer. The 3.8L OHV 90 degree V6, the 3.9L 60 degree OHV VVT V6, 3.5L OHV 60 degree V6?

i would think that they would use the "performance" V6...similar to what comes in the higher end non-gtp and non-gxp grand prixs....i dont recall off the top of my head what size it is, but i seem to recall that GM has an NA V6 that has as much power as the old 3800SII blown motor, and it is the next highest motor in the monte and grand prix to the V8 models.

That is the 3.9L 60 degree OHV VVT V6, it's in the Monte Carlo, Impala LTZ, G6, Malibu SS, but it is not in the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix has the NA 3800SIII, the 3800SIII supercharged version, and the 5.3L DOD OHV V8. The 3.9L produces the same basic hp as the supercharge 3800SII, but it doesn't produce the torque. The supercharged 3800SII produced 280 ft-lbs and the 3.9L produces around 240 ft-lbs.

Does somebody have a picture of the underneath of the hood lid?

I am wondering what the wind tunnels look like? to feed the throttle body.
