Default RE: Real Life Quarter Mile Times....

Love my 09 Challenger R/T 6 speed with 3.92 gear .

ORIGINAL: 10secDodge

Guys...I am glad to see they at least realize there is some potential with the new Challengers. It's a shame Dodge was not able to shave 500 pounds off them...that would make a world of difference. I will try to get some vid's the next time out.

As far as the Mustang forum guys are concerned, I look at them just like us. They are car enthusiest that want to outrun the competition...just as we want to outrun them. It's all in good fun and there was never any hard feeling!! I am just happy that at least some of the skeptic's realize I was being completely honest.

Now.....the upgrades will begin!! My Diablo Predator was shipped yesterday.......I am hoping for some high 12's with a 93 tune and no other changes. We will see.
I've had many fast car's in my life . Including a very modified 340 R/T new in 71 . And a 8 second flat 1/8th mile 71 Buick GS 455 in NHRA pure stock diven on the street . Had to have one of the new Challenger R/T . The sound is great and much better ride than the 71 R/T . Feel's like a big Block 440 with a stick to me . I did give it a little run with a long time drag racing friend with me the other Day . ESP off . side stepped at 2000 rpm shifted about 5400 rpm . It leaped and turned the tire's over through 4th and I let off of it. It's in the mid 13 range for sure. But I don't plan to race it . Just enjoy it as I near my 60 birthday in Jan.

Deep stage . If you want to deep stage pull through the light's and back up till the state light come's on . But normally for low ET . Inch forwar till the Pre Stage come's on . Then just ease it forward till the light flickers and hold the brake and give it enough gas till the light stay's on with a sutomatic or inch it forward till light stay's on . With a automatic I would take off on the last yellow light before green . Very few street car's will red light . I used to count from the 2nd to last yelllow light in time trail's till I found the number I didn't red light on . I was cutting 0020 light's with a 88 Toyota Supra and put all the race car's on the trailer including the track's owner son with a 6 sec . 67 Camero a few time's. That was on Wed. night bracket race . I took the money . I came back on Sat. night for the big money . But this time they announced about I used to own the Black 71 Buick GS . Which friend's have ran NHRA Stock with since 78 . And now run's 10's in !/4 and low 6 I thnk at the 1`/8th mile track I was at. I got past the first round that night against the Camero again on a hole shot. But red lighted aganinst a 5 sec. rail by 0002. I paid everything done to the 71 Challenger I had . But did most all the work on the Buick GS including building the engine and turbo 400 . And told the machine shop just how I wanted everything . kenne Bell Buick really helped me with blueprint cam's and what to do. Love this new Challenger . Bring's back alot of good memories. Not sure if I told . I walked point with German Shepherd ( 95 lb. Black and silver ) named Noble to find mine, boobytrap's and enemy ambush . Wouldn't be here if not for him . Car's was one of the thing's that helped us keep our mind's looking forward to getting back to the World as we called the USA .

BkChallenger09R/T,
Thanks for the info and thank you for your service in VN.

I am at a best 60ft of 1.99 and quarter at 13.4 now totally stock.

How do I tell if I am deep staged? Stop at the very moment both lights hit? Inch forward until just barely one light?

I meant to say pull foward after pre stage till Stage light flicher's and then very easy into the stage light till it stay's on . Just measured on my 20 inch tire's on my R/t . That would give you about 24 inch's to 25 inch's of roll before breaking the stage beam . And starting the timer . but if you leave too quick you hit the Red light beam . That is a good time if you got down to 13.40 . in 1/4 mile . It's been a long time since I drove anything fast. So the R/T feel's good. A friend who ran an NHRA 427 AA Stock 67 Camero . Said the R/T feel's like my old Buick on the Street. The Buick would run 8.50 through the muffer's on Street tires at the track in the 1/8th mile. And was spinning hard in 2nd gear with the turbo 400 . I had rigged the govnor spring to shift in auto at 5800 rpm . Better than shift by hand.

I think some Bracket racer's deep stage to start the clock as soon as they move . I guess that could be a easier way to have a more consitent ET to run off of . Not sure . some track's wouldn't let you deep stage.

ORIGINAL: Riptide

Any vids yet 10secDodge? Been back to the track?
I have not been able to make it back yet. It has snowed here every weekend since running the last time. We have had 12" is snow in the past 2 days also....so it looks like no more runs until spring. My track's last time open is Next Sunday but I will be away for the hollidays.

So, with that being said the next trip out will definitely be with mods. It will probably be April or so....once it starts snowing here it lasts a while.

Mileage.

I hope all the new challenger owners appreciate the grief I have taken for upholding the dignity and performance of our cars!!
More than appreciate it, I'm now trying to figure out exactly what options I will be ordering. Thanks!!
